Lo å Lä & @cajunaland at @festsacadiens

This year, the @centerforlouisianastudies for Louisiana Studies and Festivals Acadiens et Créoles partnered with the Smithsonian on an expansion of the festival in celebration of American's 250th birthday. This partnership led to the creation of a number of new things, including Scène '76, a new stage focused on different musical styles that have historically influenced Cajun and Creole music, and contemporary musicians from other traditions who are having an impact on Cajun and Creole music.

This is what led us to invite Thor and others, to be part of this special stage. This is a way of recognizing Cajun and Creole music's deep interconnection with other world folk traditions.

Thor is someone who has become very well respected by people within Cajun and Creole musical culture, and we thought it would be great to have him celebrate with him."

Joshua Caffery, Ph.D.
Director, Center for Louisiana Studies

Members of our chapter recently volunteered alongside other leadership from the Alumni Association clubs, chapters, and council for Festivals Acadiens et Créoles! We assisted with taking orders, processing payments, preparing drinks, enjoying live music, and supporting this special festival. We always look forward to partnering and collaborating while making an impact within our community!

I had the best time in Lafayette, Louisiana at the Festival Acadian et Creole … felt like a mini jazz fest. Louisiana has no shortage of things to do! The culture really stands out. The pride, the preservation, passing down traditions, inter generational celebrations, lots of music, dancing and good food. Plenty of French being spoken and the streets all are RUES! @festsacadiens #livetheculture #cultureismedicine #ifyouloveitliveit #musicismedicine #dancing @jazzbird_nola
