Greeting my sweet elderbull 1st thing in the morning. 🥰
I miss Fiona sleeping in my bed, but she has chosen her @petcouture.co bed over mine these days I believe her joints are more comfy in it & she doesn't have to share is with her brothers.
Supporting her through this geriatric season of life both fills my heart & tortures it.

It was love at 1st sight that Monday night in February 2020 when @jerseypitsrescue posted this adoption video of Fiona. What a love. What a face. I had remembered her initial rescue photo 2 months prior. I couldn't believe it this was the same, emaciated stray. I turned to my husband & said, "I found our next dog!" I knew she belonged with me.

We met Fiona 4 days later, & I brought her home on Valentine's the following week. Since then, she's been my best friend & my ride or die, & the best ambassador for pitties & bully breeds. What a life & legacy we've created.
So yes, I believe!! 🩷

My story: Swipe ➡️ They cut off my ears, overbred me for 5+ years, then threw me away like garbage. I wandered the streets of Patterson, NJ, in freezing December temps, starving & cold until finally one day, as cars & people just kept passing by me, a nice lady stopped and put me in her car. Jersey Pits Rescue @jerseypitsrescue
came to my aid & got me the best medical care! ❤ After a complete internal medicine & cardio workup, I had a mast cell tumor removed (w/ clear margins 🙌), I got spayed & my uncomfortable entropian in both eyes was fixed! I lived in the best foster home for 2 months & finally my family found me & brought me home on Valentine's Day 2020. I'm loving my new life 🦋 For the 1st time ever, I'm loved unconditionally & living out loud! 🐾💗

My office window view just got even more beautiful. 💖 Such a lovely gift from a good friend who knew & loved my girl.

I confess, the 1st day I hung it, I cried every time I looked at her. I've done a good job keeping myself distracted last week but this week Ive learned I can't run from grief & instead of grieving only Fiona, which is painful enough, im carrying the weight of 2 losses.

The quiet in my office each day is deafening without the sounds of Swagger & Fiona snoring all day. 💤 🎶 Truly music to my ears that I long for. I just miss my sweet family so much. I feel like pieces of me are missing. One day at a time, I guess

When I 1st contacted Chad @storytellerphotographer , I knew I was racing time to have family photos while Swagger & Fiona were still well. My sweet boy Swagger didn't make it, & I wrestled w/ whether or not to still have our family portraits done, feeling like my family was incomplete w/ Swags gone. But then I knew I would regret it if I didn't take the opportunity w/ my Fi while i had it.

Chad Bonk isn’t just a photographer — he is truly a storyteller behind the lens. These are the most beautiful family portraits we’ve ever had taken & some of the most beautiful portraits I’ve seen.

I knew these photos would be special, but I honestly wasn’t prepared for just how much. Anyone can pick up a camera & take pictures, but Chad is truly a master at his craft & I'm so thankful for Chad sharing his talent with us, and for telling our story so beautifully. These photos mean the world to me!! 💖

Friends, I have so much to share & a mind that's been racing & disorganized since Sunday so, I'm going to do the best I can.

As many of you know, Fiona left this world Monday evening after a beautiful day surrounded by love.
Thank you to Caro of @furrescuefashions for taking the wheel on the initial update & creating a beautiful reel Tuesday am when I wasn't able to communicate yet.

I think most people knew Fiona had degenerative joint disease & mobile challenges. But what I kept mostly private is that she also had cancer. I mean, cancer's a real buzzkill & not the content I am to share of my sweet pups on socials. An inoperable tumor presented itself Memorial Day weekend & grew so aggressively fast. (Which i never anticipated) Loving & caring for both her & Swaggy, I knew heartbreak was somewhere on the horizon, but you can never really brace yourself for that kind of impact!

But most importantly, know this: Monday was such a beautiful day! Though we knew it would be her final day with us, it was not sorrowful. Her last day was everything she deserved & what i hoped it would be for her, & me, too. It began w/ a delicious breakfast, hand fed of course, and a stroll in the breeze, just the 2 of us. Then her afternoon was spent surrounded by so much love, conversation & laughter as friends who loved her visited. They loved on her, talked to her, fed her treats & just spent time with her. It was truly a celebration of Fifi, & her life, on gorgeous sunny Autumn day. I could not have asked for a better last day & am beyond thankful & completely overwhelmed by the wonderful people in our life.

After everyone left, we had our family time & then Dr Victoria came. And when i was time, Fiona left this world embraced by the 2 people whom she loved the most being smothered w/ kisses from the comfort of her bed her at home. Fiona was the most perfect dog I've ever been blessed to love & be loved by & I have @jerseypitsrescue to thank for her.

Our precious Fi is now laid to rest beside her sweet little brother, Swagger, overlooking the pond & next year I plan to make it their memorial garden.

When we created this little business, we dreamed of bringing you fashion with a mission and helping rescue dogs along the way. What we didn’t know was that, stitch by stitch, paw by paw, we were also creating a family.

And yesterday, our family lost a piece of its heart. Our beautiful Fiona, lovingly known as Fifi, crossed the Rainbow Bridge. 🌈🤍

Her story began with hardship, but blossomed into a life filled with love. Her mama poured her heart into caring for her, right through the very end, giving her the gentle, peaceful farewell she so deserved.

Fifi’s beauty went far beyond the outfits she wore. She had the biggest heart—a therapy dog who brought comfort to others, a loving sister to her siblings, and her mama’s soul dog.

Having lost my own soul dog, I know how heavy that goodbye feels. I hope her mama and everyone who loved Fifi can feel our love wrapped around them, holding them close when words can never be enough.

I like to imagine her reunited with her brother Swagger, my Cielito, Dyno, and so many beloved friends who went before her. And somewhere beyond the clouds, I hope Fifi, Cielito, and @bbs.world are strolling together in their finest outfits, making heaven a little more fashionable.

Rest gently, sweet Fifi. You were woven into this family, and no goodbye can ever undo those threads. Forever our ambassadog. Forever loved. 🤍 @fetching.fiona by @fetching.fiona

It's bittersweet to watch her age so quickly. On one side of the coin, after losing dog's too young, there's my answered prayers that Fiona would live a beautiful long life into her senior years. And the other side of that coin brings the changes & ailments that can come with this geriatric phase of her life. So I adjust, & continue to do all the things I can to keep her comfy, & mobile & knowing how deeply loved she is. #souldog

𝗙𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮: I don't understand why so many dogs don't like going to the vet.

𝗠𝗲: I dunno, Fi. Maybe their vets don't have comfy beds & liver treats, & staff who adore them like your techs & dogtors do you. 🤷‍♀️

So thankful for the care & love she gets from our vet team. Just a medical progress & pain relief visit. Fifi's still doing great for a geriatric girl. 🫶
