Full version of @take6official “Come Unto Me”!

I originally posted this one in two parts, so I figured I’d put the full transcription up this time.

The harmony on this is amazing. Beautiful, dense voicings and so much to learn from throughout the arrangement. I added the chord symbols as well for anyone who wants to dig into what’s happening harmonically.

Enjoy! Definitely worth studying. Beautiful arrangement by @soundsgood

Bill Evans on “Who Can I Turn To?”

What always gets me is how much he can create from such small ideas. Listen to the way he develops motifs, moves through the altered dominant harmony, and uses chromaticism while still making everything sound connected and musical.

A great reminder that a strong solo doesn’t have to come from playing more — sometimes it’s about developing the right idea.

Still one of my favorite Evans solos to study.

How do you use my jazz transcriptions? I need your help
Over the years, so many of you have downloaded my transcriptions to learn the lines, study the voicings, analyze the harmony, or build your own transcribing skills. I want to know what that looks like for you.
I’ve been given an opportunity to build something around jazz education, and I only want to build a jazz coaching app if it actually serves musicians in the practice room and on the bandstand.
Tell me in the comments:
1 How you use the transcriptions
2 What you’re working on in your playing right now
3 What would make a jazz coaching app genuinely useful to you
I’m reading every comment and building this with your input.

@joeblockchords single “Ungrounded” was just released on @jazzdotorg Blue Engine Records, and it’s such a beautifully written tune.

The melody naturally moves through different key centers while an intricate counterline, and interesting harmony that doesn’t feel forced, supports it.

Here’s a look at the melody and chords in lead-sheet form. A great example of sophisticated writing that still feels effortless.

Listen and pre-save the album (out 9.25) at jazz.org/block.
