Late nights, warm vinyl, and soul-filled conversations inspired “Cinnamon Soul: RnB and Neo Soul” by Dave James. Blending silky chord progressions, rich electric pianos, expressive guitars, and vintage-inspired textures, this collection captures the timeless sound of classic soul while embracing the modern feel of contemporary R&B and neo soul production.

Designed for producers creating soulful hip hop, R&B, neo soul, and chill beats, these samples deliver smooth melodies, emotional songstarters, and warm live instrumentation ready to spark your next record. From intimate grooves to lush harmonies, “Cinnamon Soul” brings the flavor, depth, and musicality that define the genre’s most beloved sounds.

Episode 0020, “Beautiful Love”

Love a song too much? It becomes # Written in 1931 by three composers who span three different decades of American songwriting, turned into a jazz standard thirty years later by Bill Evans, Scott LaFaro, and Paul Motian on Explorations.

And then there’s Helmet. Page Hamilton — Helmet’s frontman — has an actual master’s degree in jazz guitar. He loved the Bill Evans version so much he buried it in distortion and had to talk his own band into playing it. That’s this episode in one sentence: a 1931 ballroom waltz, wrecked on purpose, out of love.

This week: a solo guitar reading, Ranee Lee’s Brazilian-flavored samba take, a metal band’s jazz-school frontman going completely rogue, and a 2023 gypsy-jazz quartet led by German guitarist Joscho Stephan proving this ballroom waltz still has somewhere new to go.

New episode up now — link in bio.
