this book is the definition of a cozy fall romance it literally put me to sleep every time i picked it up and i mean this in the best way bcs that's how a cozy fall romance should make you feel !!!

i usually avoid rockstar romances bcs the guys can be... annoying.. sometimes, but GRIFFIN HARVEYYY know that you're the exception. he's just a thoughtful and caring and grounded dad who completely worships his daughter!! and i'm a sucker for unique jobs in romance books so bev being a puppeteer trying to revive a children's tv show is ICONIC me thinks.

couldn't get enough of the sweetest found family dynamic as well 🥹🫶🏻 with bev’s relatives stepping up to help taking care of ava and all the banters between them were just so entertaining! ava won the lottery cs i too want to have a dad who writes me songs and a mom who makes me a tv show.

it’s a bit of a slow burn but it works so naturally. if you want a steamy but not overly spicy fall read with the cutest family vibes, this is the one!!

this is a long overdue post but let me start by saying joss richard has outdone herself with her sophomore book and i am once again falling in love with her characters (pls don't make me choose between lucymarshall and juneadam ty)

book so good it put me in a slump after bcs no book couple compares to them !!! you know that the relationship buildup is so well written when you aren't even sure of the mc's connection in the first quarter, which makes sense bcs both of them are commitment-phobes and joss did a great job in capturing that, yet next thing you know you know, it just hits you that they are meant to be together. when they finally do, it got me kicking my feet and oh my god when i tell you i have NEVERRRR smiled so much reading a spice scene yall... that filthy mouth with the slutty glasses and david corenswet as the fancast oh WHAT A COMBINATION 🫦🤭🤪 no wonder i went feral every time he talks tbh. and idc what anyone say about third act breakup but when it is done right and actually needed for the development like in this book, i really don't mind at all don't be boring

perfect book if you want something with a 90s romcom movie feel, or if you want a book with a shitty ex and you just want to curse them (i'm sorry). actually, perfect book, period.

oh and lucy reid is if short n' sweet was a person, in case that helps 🤷🏻‍♀️

if you've seen people's reactions reading lost and found and all of them are crying, yeah they're not exaggerating. legit prepare yourself for the romance of the year. the couple of the year. the YEARNEST MAN OF THE YEAR IDK IF THAT'S A THING BUT I'LL MAKE IT ONE !!!

this book made me feel everything. broke me down until i cried so many times but it's all worth it for the way it patched me back up by the end. compared to the first two books, this one definitely has a heavier topic to carry, but tarah handles grief, love, and true friendship so so beautifully.

i usually don't buy into the "right person, wrong time" trope bcs a lot of the time, by the time characters reconnect, they're basically strangers. but beasilas made me a believer. silas has loved bea with the exact same heart since they were teenagers but time was indeed unfortunately not on their side. and my bea :( she is right that two things can be happening at once: live alongside grief and still let love in, be scarred and still beautiful, completely broken and still whole, because she is the proof.

i had the time of my life reading this and whole spunes series 🥲

now THISSS is how you do a classic romcom-inspired book!!!

as a big when harry met sally fan, i loooved how jackson and delilah give such a fun spin on harry and sally's dynamic. sally and jackson are the type As, while harry and delilah are the laid-back ones.

and if you remember the famous love confession: “i love that you get cold when it's 71° out. i love that it took you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. . . . and i love that you are the last person i want to talk to before i go to sleep at night.” delilah and jackson are exactly that and there are many scenes that reminded me so much of that quote.

jackson gives spencer reid energy but make it meteorologist and i think that’s why i love him?? something about a nerd with glasses who gets so excited to talk about his niche idk... and of course, i adoreeeed delilah 🩷 i’m pretty sure this is my first time reading about a fmc who is a meteorologist (go woman in stem!!) and b.k. borison executed it flawlessly.

i caught myself smiling and giggling and even shed a tear the entire time i was reading. watching them let their guards down and become this safe space for one another made my heart ache in the best way and it was so funny watching them being competitive considering they didn't even work at the same station at first? 😭

sooo excited to see maggie and cooper in longtime listener because if there is one thing about me it's that i am obsessed with you've got mail!!! (psst @berkleyromance i'm ready for the arc whenever you are xx)

turns out boredom really does make you creative because i built a website...? 😃

ok a little backstory, a few months ago i was spamming everyone on booksta asking about e-readers (if ur one of them ily). while it helped, the information was endless and it just made me more CONFUSED. i did eventually find my perfect match which is my kindle paperwhite and now i’m nothing without it 🙂‍↕️🌷

growing up muslim, i was taught the word jihad means exactly what zoulfa described: to struggle, and to strive. it wasn't until i was exposed to the media that i saw how it’s been twisted. but what's funny is people fear the word because of a meaning forced onto it by outsiders conflating it with violence.

true to her name, Jihad is a girl who is struggling but fiercely striving. following her mother's death, her world drains of color, literally and figuratively turning gray. she grew up with her mother's magical stories, and when Jihad starts painting again... that's when her magic happened. her art speaks for her when her lips couldn't (speaking of, @thelemonwitch_ pls collab with artists to make Jihad's paintings a reality thanku 🙂‍↕️)

reading a muslim character struggle with racism might feel common in YA but it's common bcs it is still happening. reading this breaks me because i know many girls experience the exact same thing as Jihad. i live in a country with the biggest muslim population and i've always dreamed of living abroad, but stories like this make me realize i might not be ready for what i'll face. i pray all the Jihads out there will eventually feel that peace and safety because it's what our hijab is supposed to be.

to the readers of lemon trees, you might be wondering how this compares. both are deeply rooted in struggling but Ocean fights a quiet war against grief and the world around you. they carry the exact same soul and you will love this just as much, and it will break you just the same 🫠

& just so the edit isn't misleading: yes Ocean has a romance subplot & Jamie is great. i shed a tear when #that happened, but this is about Jihad first through & through!

in the end, i think the ocean would paint Jihad blue, not for her sadness, but for her endless strength weathering the roughest waves and the peace she finally reclaims 🌊💙

they say marriage is about weathering the storm together, but what if the storm is the silence between you?

here's the thing. marriage in crisis is not my usual go-to trope. the miscommunication between married ADULTS usually frustrates me and i thought i wouldn't enjoy this as much.

but then the second half happened.

and i don't know why i ever doubted cara bastone because she could literally never write a bad story.

the first half felt slower and emotionally heavy. you might even catch yourself having some not-so-good thoughts about vin. you get a lot of him early on but won't understand him just yet. at times i literally wanted to scream "CAN YALL JUST TALK" but then realized communication in real relationships isn't always easy, especially after what happened to them. sometimes talking feels too much, but giving space looks like ignoring. it perfectly captures the ache of loving someone with everything you have but feeling completely... disconnected.

but my oh my am i wrong about vin. his eyes aren't the only green thing about him and trust me when i say he is the absolute definition of a man who would. d!e. for. her. EVERYTHING for her. a man who wakes up wondering—in his own words—what he can do for her, how he can help her 🤧❤️‍🩹

and roz !! and the art !! seeing roz explore herself and vin through her art was brilliant. i’ve said this before, cara is always fmc's journey first, romance second, and i always love being inside the fmc's head. i’m not married so i don't know how it is irl but there is so much vulnerability in how they find their way back to each other that felt true to life. cara always translates the raw and complex human experience so beautifully.

apart from the marriage, i love how every side character plays such a vital role in their story (especially rafi!) and you might find familiar faces from previous books~

this book might give you pain, but eventually it gives you love! and isn't that what makes us feel alive! may the deep, unwavering kind of love vin and roz share find its way to us all 🥺

hellooo 💌🌷 posting to show that i'm still alive and well. i was indecisive on what reviews i should post, but then i thought, why choose? so here are some books i've read lately that you can add to your spring tbr!

𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙭 𝙫𝙤𝙬𝙨 | 4.5★
⤿ this book described the struggle of dating someone the exact same age as you so well 😃 i've always loved romcoms with wedding settings and this is no exception!! it would've been 10x better if we also got eli's pov tho cause the rumors are true... eli woods yearns and he yearns GOOOD 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️

⤿ the concept this book is so unique tho may we never experience what daphnemiles experienced lol. i was hesitant to give this 5 stars, but giving it a 4.75 just didn't feel right?? i guess this book has the opposite of what i didn't enjoy in pwmov and it gave me so much satisfaction. out of all emhen's books this has the lightest theme and actually IS funny.

⤿ this deserves a dedicated post and it will soon, but for now let me just scream about how much i love lennymiles! 🥹💓 (omg we have two miles in one post) you guys know how much i LOVE cara bastone. her writing always makes me feel like i'm reading the character's personal diary and i feel so deeply for them. the best thing about cara's books is that it's always the fmc's journey first, romance second. lennymiles deserve more than each other they deserve the WORLDDDD !!!
[ grief & healing, slow burn, soft grump x sunshine ]

⤿ i always get my hopes up when a book is inspired by a classic romcom movie. plot-wise, dare i say this was better than sleepless in seattle itself (bcs yay no cheating), but not a fan of the third-act break-up that happened... and that's about it. i thoroughly enjoyed the first half but i wish the second half had turned out better. I have a good feeling i'll like 'and now, back to you' more 👀

you think you're ready for life to start, but it turns out life starts whether you're ready or not. the only choice you actually have is who stands beside you while you face it. that's how eve hatch finds herself unexpectedly pregnant after a one-night stand (yeah… oh no!), then a certain someone steps up, and she knows exactly who she wants beside her for the pregnancy and the rest of her life.

i went in expecting only sunshine and fluff. well, joke's on me because this book had me CRYING 😭 everything felt so raw and pure. i loved how the story is divided into trimesters, bringing us to witness eve's journey into motherhood. cara bastone captured the scary, uncomfortable parts of pregnancy so well and eve's growth from denial to acceptance was written beautifully. somehow i felt so connected to eve and i’m not even a mom yet?? it genuinely felt like i was there throughout her pregnancy.

and SHEP !! oh my shep, my sweetest, perfect shep. the moment he showed up i knew he was staying (like anyone could ever reject that man). the most thoughtful and caring man and somehow you can just tell he has been pining for eve for YEARSSS. also yes i kept imagining him as blond calum turner 🙂‍↕️

this played in my head like a movie the whole time i'm reading it, which makes sense because the most iconic romcoms are set in new york and so is this book. i don't think this could be any better but everyone loves the audiobook even though i haven’t listened to it yet but i definitely will. at this point i would read cara bastone's grocery list.

and to @carabastone : i hope both sides of your pillow stay cold all year, the sun shines bright when you're out, and flowers bloom when you pass by 💐💐💐
