Our next edition of “Oiche Cheoil” is coming up again! Wednesday, September 16th, 7:30pm!

Tired of trying to tune out the obnoxiously loud pub noise in order to hear the musicians? This is your chance! Come on down to @blacksquirrelclub on Wednesday, September 16th, where you’ll be treated with a nice living-room style performance from a sample of the Philly trad scene: @fiddle.pete @violintriguing @thatdulcimergirl @robcurto and myself! Between the five of us, we’ll be producing different musical combinations and shenanigans.

I'm a big fan of choir director and tune composer Peadar Ó Riada! This tune off of Triúr's album Omós really spoke to me when I was listening to it in the car one day. It's not a waltz, even though it is called "The Kathleen Waltz." The liner notes say this tune is written for his mother-in-law, which I think is super sweet! :) by @fiddle.pete

I had a profoundly eye-opening experience in Castleisland this fall, and I feel a combination of excitement and determination thinking about studying the tunes and sounds I heard in Sliabh Luachra. This is a slide I think I heard @andreapalandrimusic playing, either on the album he and @ruairimcgormanbouzouki made or during their concert at the @patrickokeeffefestival
It is also possible that Matt Cranitch played it or taught it at his workshop. If anyone knows the name, please comment it!

I've been trying to get myself to post more of me playing, but the hardest part is watching these back and knowing that it's never going to be as good as I want it to be. Well, maybe eventually it will... I will try to be more consistent!! taken in Boston, Massachusetts by @fiddle.pete

Hey everyone!! I am so excited to announce my first show with @violintriguing at @theluthiercollective in Somerville, alongside @an.nie.mcd and @eliascardosomusic ! We are very passionate about the music we want to share with you, and I hope you will come and join us!

Pete and Nath play tunes they wish other people would play more often! Pulling from some of their favorite albums, they'll be premiering new arrangements and pairings of lesser-known tunes from the likes of Peadar O'Riada, Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh, and others. It'll be an early evening of fiddle and hardanger resonance.
