Peter and Alec are a fiddle/guitar duo based in West Philadelphia. Dedicated traditional musicians, contra dancers, music teachers, and newfound friends, fiddler Peter Subramanian (Pegasus Collective) and guitarist Alec Charon (High Strung, the Kelpies) met in Philly’s flourishing Irish trad scene. These multi-instrumentalists share a passion for Irish and Scottish traditional music, and they can’t wait to bring every note to life in Waltzes and Partner Dancing during this year’s Five Borough Fling.

New Tune of the Week! This week's tune is The Edenderry Reel! Cheers to @fiddle.pete for choosing this tune for us this week! If you've ever thought about participating, now is the time! Play this tune and tag us as a collaborator! Also looking for new totw choosers so send us a DM. —— @fiddle.pete @aleccharon This is a reel I learned from the album Rooska Hill by flautist Éamonn O'Riordan and concertina player Tony O'Connell. I happened upon Éamonn at a session in Castleisland during Patrick O'Keeffe last year, and I was taken aback by how incredible he sounded and how freely his flute sailed over the session. The Edenderry Reel is the middle tune on the first track, following the Leitrim Thrush.

We're less than a month away and so excited for 3 magical days of folk music and dancing at the ethereal Church of St Paul & St Andrew on November 6-8th! With calling by Will Mentor (@willmentor1) of Burlington, Vermont, Frannie Marr (@franniemarr) of now Oregon, formerly San Diego, the contra dance sessions will be fueled by powerhouse acoustic folk duo Countercurrent (@countercurrrentmusic) of Olympia, Washington, and rising pop-trad crossover dance band The Bubblegum Society, fresh from New England! We're also so stoked to have Alec Charon (@aleccharon) and Peter Subramanian (@fiddle.pete) of Philadelphia, PA, playing our open partner dance session on Saturday, November 7th, and a slew of AMAZING workshop teachers on Sunday morning, November 8th.

This is your chance! Come on down to @blacksquirrelclub on Wednesday, September 16th, where you’ll be treated with a nice living-room style performance from a sample of the Philly trad scene: @fiddle.pete @violintriguing @thatdulcimergirl @robcurto and myself! Between the five of us, we’ll be producing different musical combinations and shenanigans. Bring your instrument for a session afterwards! #irishmusic #livemusic #philadelphia
