I’ve been up to my eyeballs 👀 in fabric lately! Dyeing fabric, cutting fabric, sewing fabric, packaging fabric - I decided I needed a bit of a break this morning. A little throw back to last October when I was finishing the hand quilting of this quilt I made for my daughter. That green came from black eyed Susan’s shifted with iron. It makes the yummiest green. I’m excited to get into the kitchen this autumn and do some more dyeing! Happy Monday friends! by @fieldandfiberco

Life has just been really lifey lately 🫩 It’s always a shock to go from everything is fine to what just happened! I find that during these times I search for pockets of joy to anchor myself. Yesterday that pocket was scrolling back through quilts I’ve made over the years and that’s when I rediscovered this video. This was one of my earlier quilts that I made for my mom, I absolutely love a low volume quilt. Sewing, fabrics, knitting, spinning wool, these are all hobbies that ground me, that move me from my racing thoughts to the present moment where I’m focused on what’s literally in my hands, it really does feel like therapy. The growing season is definitely winding down, I’m always relieved and a bit sad at the same time. The shift in season opens up more time for me to be creative and experiment with various textile projects. Right now I’m loving the colors marigold gives (swipe) and am working on a yummy autumn quilt! Happy Monday friends! by @fieldandfiberco

I’ve been busy over here dyeing up yards of fabric using leaves and bark and roots and I am always blown away by the colors nature creates! I’m pushing myself to try combinations I wouldn’t normally try, like that purple came from cutch then overdyed with logwood and purple isn’t even a color I normally choose but I may now 😃 I hope everyone has a fabulous Friday and a blessed weekend! #naturaldye #plantdye #handdyed #handdyedfabric by @fieldandfiberco

Sometimes I go back and look at quilts I’ve made and fall for them all over again. This is one of them. I made this for my husband for Christmas, it was huge! I did not have a plan when I started it, I just started. Most of the colors are hand dyed fabrics, others are yarn dyed wovens. It’s a mix of linen, cotton, cotton/hemp blends and the backing is flannel. I hand stitched the quilting and binding 😅 it took a minute ⏳ I’m looking forward to cooler weather and getting it out again! I woke up with a quilt idea on my mind, anyone else dream in quilt squares 😂 I have a very large stash of hand dyed fabric remnants that I want to use and these quarter square triangles came to me in that kind of awake still sleeping stage early this morning so I had to get up and start working on it! I think I’m going to use white squares between each but I also have some beautiful natural linen that would look good too! What do you think? Summer in a quilt. I spent these warm months watching flowers bloom, then eco printing them onto tea towels to capture their print. The persimmon dye came next, a color that holds August light so beautifully. Now they’re pieced together, and I feel like I’m holding the whole season in my hands.
