After 3.5 years of some of the most traumatic employment conditions of my life, I finally found another job and said goodbye to this one on the air a few minutes ago, effective immediately. Now I can use my social media again without the risk of being fired for something I say.

A joyous and revolutionary night of music at @southerncville with @carsieblanton and @theburninghellband, plus a guest appearance by @devonsproule. It was an evening of songs about how it was, how it is, and how it might be if stop fighting one another and start fighting the rich and powerful. It all ended with an outdoor sing-along in the rain for @peoples_songs.

I already knew I liked Carsie and Devon, but The Burning Hell were a revelation. When they finished playing, @authorslrinaldi turned to me and said, "That band was made for you." Smart, funny, fearless songwriting; wild arranging (guitar, vocals, and bass clarinet — why not?); and the kind of heart-on-a-denim-sleeve performance that I just adore. I am already obsessed.

I was so glad to be there with my friend Jordan and my partner. The purpose of art is to remind us that we're human. How do I know? Because that's what it does.

Hello this is my face. I have been trying for a long time to figure out a haircut that comes closer to how I see myself and how I feel in my body. And one that makes me look a little less like everyone's middle-aged dad, since I am a parent, but a non-binary and trans one. I've been going to see Becca at @cvillehoneycomb. Over a few cuts we've been dialing it in. Shaving the sides. Coloring the front. And then, almost by accident, I "spiked" (kinda) my hair up using some product she gave me that I'd been using just to give it shape. And BOOM I immediately felt different. It's like when you're trying to focus a projector and it finally becomes clear. There might be a tiny tweak left, but after five-plus decades I am finally looking like how I feel. 💚
