As a returned missionary, the flight home feels the loneliest. The plane gets silent and you’re left to your own thoughts about the memories of serving but now leaving them. Watching my parents cry on the plane ride together brought some of those feelings back. This feels a little nostalgic. It hurts my heart. At the same time, I’m filled with gratitude and love for them. They did it. Served Him, with all their MIGHT, MIND and STRENGTH. They left it ALL out on the field.

There’s nothing quite like watching your youngest get older. Foster care is not a fast track to adoption. 🏡

One of the biggest misconceptions about foster care is that the goal is to adopt the child. In reality, foster care is temporary, while adoption is permanent.

As a foster parent, your role is to provide a safe, supportive, and loving home while a child’s family works toward being ready to bring them home.

That may mean a few weeks, a few months, or even longer. Every situation is different.

The goal of foster care is reunification whenever it is safe and appropriate. Foster parents help fill the gap during a challenging season while supporting the child and their family along the way. 🤝

Foster care isn’t about replacing a family. It’s about supporting a child until they can safely return home. ❤️
