I’m taking a break from music photography! For the TL;DR folks. Read below if you want to know more:

I just wanna open with that I’m going be real with you all. I’m absolutely exhausted as a music photographer. I’ve been a working in this industry for almost 10 years here and while I have become very skilled at what I do, almost automatic, I’ve also become incredibly burned out. And music photography is not something that can be sustained while burned out. Pushing myself to power through like I always have is just going to put me back in the ER like a year and a half ago. Except, i genuinely believe my next visit is going to be so permanently damaging and life altering that I’m going to have to give up the entirety of my current life, not just make serious adjustments like last time. As horrible as it was, I was still very fortunate to walk with only mild permanent damage after a what is still a multi year recovery.

I’ve been fighting making this decision for a very long time. Mostly privately. Maybe I will get my passion back after the next show or the show after that, I say, maybe something extraordinary will happen that reignites the flame for my work. But in reality things get a little bit harder with every show i shoot. The flame grows dimmer, but it hasn’t completely extinguished. However, it’s on the brink. If I keep pushing I’m worried it will become resentment toward my craft and that resentment will extinguish the flame that I want to keep alive.

So I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to take an extended break, an indefinite hiatus, from being a Music Photographer. If the passion won’t come, it’s just not there. The only thing I can do is let it rest so that there is a possibility that I can return. Throwing myself over and over headfirst at a brick wall isn’t going to make anything better, in fact, I feel like I am taking on more and more emotional debt with each show. There is something very insidious being extremely good at a skill and it not doing anything for your fulfillment anymore, not igniting anything. It cuts deep. No one plans ahead for a deep passion diminishing, it would be a grim way to live always expecting things to end.

Hey everyone! Been a long time since my last post :) A lot has happened and music production and DJing has been a big part of my therapeutic journey.

I’m now excited to announce my public debut as “FezNation”. I am a multi-format EDM DJ and music producer, playing everything from house to dubstep to garage to techno to trance. I aim for unique sounds emerging from new and familiar tracks and samples.

Thanks to many who have supported my journey along the way, and a shoutout to @simshows for providing my first public opportunity :)

What a Friday at @buckhill !!!! @danceagenda bought @ayybomusic & @kylewatsonmusic to my childhood ski hill for a day to remember. A proper major Aprés-Ski event finally happened in MN, and I hope this becomes a thing. OPEN TO CLOSE

A week ago @danceagenda hosted a true open to close featuring @skreamizm for a full 5 hours. It was such a pleasure to have a DJ with such a wide breadth of work and tastes take us on a journey for 5 hours.

In an era where sets seem to be be getting shorter and shorter by the year, allowing a 4 hour set (which later became 5) allows for the crowd to go on a journey with the DJ and also allows for DJ to improvise based on what the crowd is receptive to.

Tunnel Vision is still in my Spotify Top 100 since it came out in 2020. Never thought I’d be photographing and hanging with @jerromusic now multiple times in Minneapolis with @danceagenda & @greenroommpls , but life sure finds a way to be serendipitous. Decided to commit the “Skies at grocery stores vs skies at scenic locations” meme to the feed. Figured I haven’t posted in awhile with how crazy life has been as of late. This was the storm in late August that dominated everyone’s social media the night it happened, double rainbow included.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a summer this unpredictable & stormy in my entire life. Seems far more akin to the weather I’ve seen in tropical regions.

Forgiveness set me free. Dance Agenda’s two month show stand ends with a Minneapolis favorite. No matter the venue we’ve hosted him in, Marsh had always delivered on a set that makes you feel deeply. It was an incredible way to cap off almost two months of weekend music events.

Always keep it 69. This Block Party was some of the silliest stuff we’ve ever done for a show at @danceagenda. Thank you for all the amazing energy from everyone involved in the production and crowd. This was one for the books, yet again.
