EVERY image tells a story 🇵🇭

Our FIL FIESTA 559 flyer is more than an announcement: it’s a celebration of the people, places, and moments that have helped shape Fresno’s Filipino community.

We wanted to give you a closer look at some of the intentionally-chosen images woven into this year’s design and share why they mean so much to us.

🇵🇭 Honoring our history
Meet Richard Campos, owner of Fresno’s first Filipino restaurant: Bataan Cafe.
His place in our community’s history represents the generations of Filipinos who helped establish our presence in the Central Valley and paved the way for what we continue to build today. Thank you to his granddaughters for sharing this image with us 🙏🏽

🇵🇭 Keeping our traditions alive

Featured in the design is Ate Tria, a traditional Filipino dancer, Fresno State graduate, and former member of @magkaisafilipinoclub. Today, she’s a founding member of @kapayapaandance along with Auntie Florisse! Kapayapaan is a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and sharing our traditional dances through education and performance. This photo captures her performing at last year’s festival!

🇵🇭 Celebrating through food

Of course, we had to make room for food! Our flyer features El Jabalito, a Filipino food truck that has been part of the festival since we first started in 2024. Food is one of the many ways we share our culture, preserve family traditions, and introduce others to who we are. And it’ll be one of the highlights of this year’s celebration! We are so excited for every food vendor who will be there next weekend 🍴

🇵🇭Creating space for Filipino joy

This image might be the most personal of them all.

Before FIL FIESTA 559 existed, our founder @hashtag.pretty would see beautiful celebrations of Filipino culture happening in bigger cities and wonder why we weren’t experiencing more of that here in Fresno. That feeling became part of the inspiration behind starting this festival.
And then, last year, we got to witness this moment: a group of women dancing, celebrating, and simply enjoying being together.

It was EVERYTHING we had hoped this festival could become.
Because Filipino joy exists wherever Filipinos are ✨

The food, the shopping… and the soundtrack! 🎶🇵🇭

We’re kicking off our FIL FIESTA 559 musical lineup announcements with LOTTI! After bringing her energy and talent to maarte this summer, she’s making her way back to Fresno and we can’t wait to hear her phenomenal voice.

Here’s a little taste of her performance at Pasko sa July to get you excited!

Over the next week and a half, we’ll be sharing more of the artists taking the stage at this year’s festival. So much talent, so much to celebrate… and we hope you’ll be there for all of it.

MEET THE TEAM: The faces behind FIL FIESTA 559 🇵🇭

Meet Christine Rose, our Festival Director! ✨

🇵🇭 Roots 🇵🇭

My roots are in Odiongan, Romblon, where both of my parents were born and have since retired. Born in LA, I got to experience island life through childhood trips to the Philippines. As I get older, I find myself reaching for home more and more, for the traditions and connections that keep me close to my roots.

❤️ What does FIL FIESTA 559 mean to you? 💙

FIL FIESTA 559 is a love letter to my roots and to the community we’re building here in Fresno. It means getting to see our people (kababayan!) take up space with joy and pride, across all generations and in all the ways we’re Filipino. As an organizer, it makes me SO KILIG to bring people together to feel seen, make memories, and share who we are.

-
Come celebrate with us on October 24 in Downtown Fresno at Tuolumne St. & Fulton St 🇵🇭 Kita tayo… see you there! 💛
