Lots of new faces here; let’s connect!🩵

I’m Sam Previte…registered dietitian, certified intuitive eating counselor, founder of Find Food Freedom, IVF warrior, wifey, mom to two littles, proud Greek (Pappas, obviously), Penn State alum, Swiftie, and I’ve been to 17 Dave Matthews Band concerts✨

Originally from The Burgh (what up, my fellow Yinzers 👋), I’ve spent the last decade helping people make peace with food and their bodies without guilt or shame.

What started with just me has grown into an incredible virtual private practice made up of a team of weight-inclusive registered dietitians and certified intuitive eating counselors. We offer 1:1 support for food freedom, eating disorder recovery, and body image healing and yes, we take insurance🙌

💸 Most of our clients even have sessions fully covered. That means $0 for support!

Oh, and if you want to dive deeper into the chaos of motherhood, food, body image, and mental health? I host the Find Food Freedom Podcast, with new episodes every Wednesday🎧

This page is a safe space for real people. Real bodies. Real vulnerability. Cold foam. Chaos. The occasional tasteful F-bomb. And zero diet culture.

Whether you’ve been here for years or you just found this page five minutes ago, comment below and introduce yourself! Tell me who you are, where you’re from, or what brought you here. I’d love to know💬

story time: when my 4 year old asked if candy is unhealthy‼️

raising an intuitive eater does not mean always allowing our children to consume unlimited amounts of food and always saying yes to everything. raising an intuitive eater includes providing structure around meals and snacks, cultivating an environment where all foods fit, and encouraging kiddos check in with their bodies hunger and fullness cues (when age appropriate).

i want to hear from you:
▫️have your kiddos starting asking these questions?👇
▫️how do you feel your relationship with food would be different if your parents talked about candy this way?👇

ps - if you want to make peace with food and pass that peace along to your kiddos comment “benefit check” below and I will personally DM you the link to check your health insurance benefits and see how many free virtual 1:1 counseling sessions you have with our @find.food.freedom dietitian team🩵

What would you add?👇

As a @find.food.freedom dietitian, we support clients who were raised to believe that there was something wrong with their body. These messages will create a very unpleasant relationship to food and body. It is unfortunately fairly easy for us as providers to identify clients who have been heavily restricted as a child simply based on how they talk about food and their body.

This is a friendly reminder that it is JUST candy. You are a grown adult now and you get to rewrite the narrative around food and your body. And believe it or not, candy can become JUST candy to you. It doesn’t have to be something you obsess about or can’t keep in the house because you will eat the whole bag.

Eating candy isn’t the problem. I am so sorry if you were raised to believe that you were less than or something was morally wrong with your food choices or your body.

Two things can be true: you can be outraged that guns are the leading cause of death for children and adolescents in this country AND you can want a better food environment for your children.

There is nothing wrong with wanting your child to grow up with access to healthy, nutrient dense food. In fact, we should want that for ALL children in this country.

Restricting your child of all candy is not going to make them a healthier kiddo. If we set strict rules around candy, it often leads to an increased urgency to consume more candy.

The first place I would start is how you talk about food and more specifically candy. Avoid using the words bad, junk, or cheating when referring to candy. This places morality onto the food, which can in turn create guilt and shame around the food when it is consumed.

Next up would be focusing on creating neutrality around food. Something we do in our home as we approach Halloween is allow the children to pick a piece of candy around meal time. The constant exposure to the candy makes the candy way less of a big deal.

Removing food dyes from candy does not make us a healthier country. It makes us a country that is afraid of candy and focusing on removing dyes from candy (it’s still candy!!!) with the leading cause of death for children and adolescents still being guns.

I would love to hear your thoughts below👇and follow along if you are interested in making the world a healthier place for our kiddos🫶
