It’s been a minute since we’ve done an introduction, so hello! I’m Ali and welcome to Finding Mr. Height. I’m so happy you’re here, as a part of a community that has come to mean so much to me.

Here on FMH, we prioritize leading fulfilled lives regardless of our relationship status. We are showing up authentically, we’re asking for what we want, and we’re having a hell of a lot of fun.

Personally, I’m looking for an aligned long-term partner and taking action in my dating life to find that. And, I know that I love the life I’ve built and will continue to live that to the fullest! If you're the only single one in a group of friends who are all engaged, married, or having kids, it's important to find new friends who share your current life stage.

This doesn't mean abandoning your old friends, but rather nurturing and deepening friendships with people who are experiencing similar things.

I found new connections through volleyball, but there are countless ways to meet people who align with your lifestyle.

Maintaining a balance between old and new friendships can make you feel much more supported and understood.

Saying things out loud when you’re starting to spiral (or even just having self-blaming thoughts you don’t like) can really help them stick!

Start by borrowing the feeling from how you’d react to a friend telling you this happened. Over time, hopefully you’ll find - like I did - that your body believes it about you too ♥️.

Day two of Puglia: the beach in the morning, a historian in the afternoon.

We started at Pescoluse, which they call the Maldives of Salento, and once glanced at the water told me why. Then into Lecce for panini at Profumo di Pane (get the diavolo, I’m beginning you) and an afternoon with Antonio, a historian who grew up there. He even walked us past his great-grandmother’s house!

We found him through our masseria and he gave us SO much history, culture, and local lore. I hiiiiighly recommend asking your masseria or hotel if they have vendors they recommend.

Did you know you can stay in a renovated farmhouse all over southern Italy? It’s called a masseria, an old working farm turned into a small hotel. Ours was Antica Masseria Rottacapozza, at the bottom of Salento.

Olive groves, a pool we usually had to ourselves, and a family-run feel that I adored. Next time I’m in Puglia, I’m definitely staying at another one!

I’ve been going into one of my clients’ offices a couple times a week, which has made it extra important to protect that time at the beginning of my day to get organized. But that commute has given me some built-in editing time while I’m sitting on the train! I’ve been able to get a great balance going with my 2 businesses lately and I’m loving how that feels.

I have a friend from Italy who *insisted* my next trip had to be Puglia…so off we went!

We landed in southern Italy and drove three hours to our masseria, which is what they call the old working farmhouses down there that have been turned into hotels. Ours was Antica Masseria Rottacapozza, near Torre Vado at the bottom of Salento, and it has me still reminiscing five months later.

Day one was lunch on the water outside Bari, the drive south, a room that opened onto a view of the water, spritzes at sunset, and a wedding setting up on the property while we checked in.

Traveling together for the first time? Talk. About. Specifics. How do each of you travel? What type of itinerary do you want (if you even want one)? What do each of you want to prioritize while there? Will you spend the whole time together or will there be solo time? What’s the budget (with REAL numbers)? Who’s paying for what and how will you track that?

Just a few examples of things to talk about before you leave, so your trip can be pure fun and no stress.

Everything I ate and drank in Charleston in two nights (and we did a LOT of both of those). Oysters @bar167_charleston , the best martini of my year at @lowlandcharleston, dinner on the patio at @cheznouscharleston, brunch at @82queenchs, and a tasting menu at @wildcommonchs that truly blew me away (especially the wine pairing).

As I get more involved in the merchandising side of my consulting business, I’ve had to remind myself that I’m WAY happier when I’m wearing a wardrobe that feels like my own. My clients’ collections are amazing AND I don’t need it all to feel like I measure up (wild concept, I know 😅 but trust me the pressure is real).

And I think this relates to so much in life where it’s helpful to really zoom in on what feels right for you. I’m never going to be a minimalist, and I don’t want to be! But I *do* want to keep choosing myself in a way that didn’t feel comfortable 10+ years ago. And I want that for you, too! For me, being mindful about it is the first step.

Now BRB, time to go bust all my sweaters out of hiding for the fall 🍁
