Weir Farm National Historical Park Welcomes June 2024 Artist-in-Residence: Stephen Henderson
•
Stephen Henderson is a fine artist working with mixed media in collage, watercolors, oils and acrylics. His work as an artist has grown out of a long-standing interest in archaeology, art history and the study of cultures and religions from around the world. In each series, sculptural or two-dimensional, Stephen explores a different aspect of this interest. Stephen has been Director of Fine Arts at Quinnipiac University for 21 years and a professor for 30. He has taught a variety of classes – watercolor, painting, drawing – in which landscape art predominates.

Weir Farm National Historical Park Receives $410,000 in Inflation Reduction Act Funding for Natural Resources Projects 📣
•

• •
Three weeks ago, the Department of the Interior announced a $195 million investment from President Biden’s Investing in America agenda for climate restoration and resilience projects over the next decade, protecting America’s national parks for generations to come. National parks across the United States, including Weir Farm National Historical Park (NHP), will use this funding to prepare for the impacts of climate change, protect species, restore ecosystems and invest in conservation jobs.

Grasslands are crucial habitats that support a diverse array of flora and fauna, playing a fundamental role in maintaining the ecological balance of our planet. Unfortunately, due to various factors including habitat fragmentation and invasive species, many grassland areas are under threat worldwide. Weir Farm NHP is part of a regional, landscape-scale initiative supported by the Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to restore and protect this critical habitat in parks across the eastern United States.
