Thank you @spinneysuae for this beautiful and necessary conversation about something that is so much more than just a condiment on the side of the table.

We are so happy to be included in such a big milestone: Volume 1 of Nourish Magazine by Spinneys. Congratulations 💚🎊🫒

Thank you for capturing the cultural and intangible aspects that guide what we do.

💛

Bayt itab is located on a mountain and it’s agricultural land spreads as far as the eye can see.
Villagers planted olive trees, grain, grapes and other fruits. Crops were rainfed and irrigated from the many springs around and in the village.
The village had a central courtyard where they met to drink coffee, talk, and share life.
Most of the houses were built from stones, some were two story houses.
The families who lived in the village are Tayah, Ghreer, Hamash, Lahham, Abeed Allah, Alyan, Jalham, Zahran and Kayah.
The village was ethnically cleansed 21st October 1948 by @findtala

Welcome to OFF-MENU, where we sit down with the leading voices from the regional culinary world to better understand the food systems around us 🌴

A woman is a school, and last week @findtala of @jenin.ae showed us just that! In our very first session, she shared how she and her husband, @azizkhatib built an ethical food brand rooted in genuine community, transparency and storytelling, while also building a successful business that made it to @sharktankdubai, products that sit on Michelin-starred menus & major upcoming partnerships.

This series is part of our membership programming, this is where we learn about the business, culture, history and climate of food.

Membership waitlist linked in bio. Open to UAE residents only.

Last week I gave a training to women who are in the early stages of building their business. We were in the room for 4 hours, and I intentionally packed the time with immersive exercises that I customized based on their own journeys. I wanted to take these women on a journey to show them what is ACTUALLY essential and foundational in building a business and a brand. That’s the tough part. The rest is easy(ish).

Time genuinely flew. We could have been there for 2 days. There was lots of laughter. Lots of clapping and support. Lots of fear - the kind you feel before jumping off a cliff.

There were even some tears. I knew the training was going to challenge assumptions, uncover blind spots, and make sense of things they knew didn’t sit right but just didn’t quite know why. This isn’t an easy process. In fact, one of the hardest things as an entrepreneur is to make these leaps into the unknown and to make decisions even when you’re scared. We witnessed several breakthroughs throughout the training. I was in awe seeing these women walk out of the room with a higher sense of awareness not only of their brand but also themselves, and I couldn’t be more honored to have played a part in that.

This training reminded me why I started my career in education and how MY own journey is evolving as well. I look for impact. Initially it was in schools and universities as a means to help uplift our region. Now it’s business. This training also made me realize how much I DO have and how it’s ok to sometimes reject the program of “pursuing”. The training was a culmination of me. My background, my multidisciplinary education, my journey at NYU in branding and community building and project management, with Jenin to build something that matters.

Thank you to: the GROW @the.sophia.collective program for having me ❤️ @beingmarciamcleod for bringing beautiful energy into the space and for being able to hold space in inclusive and thoughtful ways❤️ @graceful_reflections for kicking us off with a grounding meditation❤️ @clarestaffordtaylaur for trusting me and making a big change to a whole program adding this module❤️

As part of GROW 2026 we are excited to share new and enhanced modules 3&4.
Module 3 ‘Brand Clarity Sprint’ is taking place this Thursday, and we are happy to invite whoever is interested to work on their company brand to take part alongside the current GROW cohort.

Date and Location: Thursday, September 17, at 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hub71, Abu Dhabi.

Facilitated by Tala Hammash @findtala and Marcia McLeod @beingmarciamcleod

Tala has worked in brand and storytelling at New York University and built her own brand, @jenin.ae, which has been featured on Spinneys, Khaleej Times, Shark Tank, and others.

Marcia is a Leadership Coach and Human Design expert who guides women to tell their story and communicate authentically.

Session Brief:
Brand is one of the most misunderstood concepts. Most people think a brand is a logo, colors, a website… but that’s just the tip of the iceberg! To build a brand is to build the language that brings your business to life, keeps it memorable in customers’ minds, and establishes you as an authority in your industry.

A strong brand is the foundation for a strong business.

Join this immersive hands-on session to learn exactly what a brand is vs. isn’t, to determine your own brand voice, to profile your target customer, to tell your story in ways that support your business, and more. Participants will walk away with a working brand statement, will present their exercise results to the group, and will have a firm sense of direction that will help them make decisions confidently moving forward.

Over the last year I've found myself drawn to filming the people who leave the world a little better than they found it.
Aziz and Tala are two of those people.
They invited me into their world to share the story behind Jenin, a company built around culture, food and bringing people together. It was a privilege to spend time with them and hear, in their own words, what drives them.
I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making it. by @findtala

Thank you to Tala Hammash, co-founder of Jenin, @jenin.ae for joining Prof Mourad Ben Ayed’s innovation and entrepreneurship class and sharing her entrepreneurial journey with our students.

From turning a side project into a premium Palestinian olive oil brand, Tala shared the realities of building a business step by step. During this engaging conversation, she spoke openly about making difficult decisions, navigating challenges, her Shark Tank experience, and the importance of staying true to your values while growing a sustainable business.

A reminder that entrepreneurship is not just about building a successful business, it is about building something authentic, purpose-driven, and sustainable.

Thank you, Tala, @findtala for inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs.

What a gift that I will forever treasure.

The concept of “home” was always nuanced for me. The UAE is home and always has been and always will be, but a part of my life that some people may not know is that Doha, Qatar was also home for me for several formative years of my life, where I was wholeheartedly and institutionally and deeply supported and nurtured. Where I became part of a beautiful community I’m still deeply connected to today and that I will forever cherish. Where my career in education transformation began. I will be forever grateful.

Sheikh Hamad was a father figure for a whole nation that focused so deeply and wholeheartedly on the development of society and arts and education and so much more - while remaining rooted in our belonging to this region and to our lands and to our tradition.

This photo was taken 12 years ago. I was a fresh graduate and I wondered: why would the Emir even want to meet with people like me??

But people like me are exactly the kind of people they were invested in. Young, yes, but they focused on people with a demonstrated commitment to our region. People with an unwavering and firm belief in our people collectively. Especially at a time when we as Arabs are constantly reminded that we are “not enough”, this is revolutionary. To be affirmed and supported in your values.

Waking up to the news today was reminiscent of how I felt when Sheikh Zayed Allah yerhamo passed away. What a legacy to leave behind.

I’ve always cherished this photo but now holding it closer to my heart and can’t help but feel so lucky to have been in the company of such a great role model.

الله يرحمه رحمة واسعة ويغفر له ويسكنه فسيح جناته
Thinking of my Qatari and Doha family today and always ♥️
