happy 20th to an forever friend🫶 been thinking what to write about but there will never be enough words for how much you mean to me. Although we don’t talk as much anymore, it doesnt matter because we don’t have to because when we do its just like old times. I seriously cannot believe you are 20 already😭😭 To the sister i never had, thank you for the memories, laughs, tears, fights, and love throughout the years! You are the most beautiful, amazing, talented person I’ve ever met and its so fun getting to see you chase after your dreams! Thank you for being a huge part of my life for so long and always going along with my crazy ideas like The Video Game Story or just games in general. 20??? how are we here???🥹🥹 to my best friend, although life have become crazy and we havent been able to see eachother in about three years, i know the minute we see other again it will be like old times. I’m so lucky to have such an amazing and beautiful best friend like you. I’m so lucky to have such an amazing person like you in my life. You are the definition of seek first to understand then be understood. Even back when my speech wasn’t great and hard to understand you understood exactly what I meant and you still do. Today is World Cleft Awareness Day🤍
A cleft lip or cleft palate happens when a baby’s mouth doesn’t full form during early pregnancy, affecting a 1 in 700 babies worldwide. Having a cleft can make it harder to eat, breathe, hear and speak. Growing up, I didn’t tell people about my cleft palate. Although I was told what it was, I was often embarrassed. (which theres no reason to be!) It made me stand out, when I wanted to fit in. From Surgeries to years of speech therapy, it definitely had its challenges. Some people treated me differently because of the way that I talked, and it was definitely frustrating at times, especially as a younger kid. It was better to just not talk about it. In 2019, I went to my first Cleft Camp. At first, I was hesitant to go, if I went to camp, I would have to face my cleft head on, and I would have to talk about it. The minute I hopped on the bus, everything changed. I then realized that having an cleft is a super power. Why fit in when you were born to stand out? Today, I am so proud of having a cleft. It makes so much of who I am today. If It wasn’t for my cleft, I wouldn’t have met such amazing friends that will last a lifetime. I’ve reached heights I’ve never thought I would before. I am so grateful for my friends and family who have always listened, asked questions and supported me on this lifelong journey. I am also so grateful for the people and communities who are constantly raising cleft awareness @operationsmile @ourforeversmiles @thebluediscproject @americancleftpalate 🤍 I am forever #cleftproud 🫶 by @fionaalegrand
