A huge honour to welcome @ursulavonderleyen von and Taoiseach @michealmartintd to @theglucksman as part of her visit to @universitycollegecork to mark beginning of Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU 2026.

President von der Leyen has a keen and attentive eye and was deeply engaged with how culture creates space for difference and an appreciation of the plural histories of Europe.

It was a proud moment to be able to introduce so many Irish contemporary artists and see President Von der Leyen’s interest and delight in their beautiful and complex work.

Thank you @tadhgocrualaoi @katie.o.grady_ @meadhbh.healy for making our museum a civic place of inclusion, ambition and critical reflection.

I am so grateful too to John O’Halloran @vansinderenlaw @ursulakil @eoinhahessy and so many of our university colleagues who made this visit such a success.

Brilliant to see contemporary practice showcased in this way which wouldn’t be possible without @artscouncilireland / An Chomhairle Ealaíon and the generosity of donors who support us through Cork University Foundation. taken in The Glucksman by @fionakearney

Mesmerising activation of ‘An Casadh’ by artist @lauranifhlaibhin today - an offsite project by @theglucksman curated by @katie.o.grady_ for @corkmidsummer. Worlds and words woven together in ways that are still sifting in my self and soul. Really appreciate so many people coming out for the launch and huge thanks to @lorrainemaye and @artscouncilireland for their incredible support of this imaginative, engrossing new work. taken in Elizabeth Fort by @fionakearney

PANORAMA EUROPA

Ursula Burke, Michael Canning, Sian Costello, Genieve Figgis, Claire Halpin, David Eager Maher, Rachel Fallon, Eleanor McCaughey, Isabel Nolan, Geraldine O’Neill

Curated by Fiona Kearney and Katie O’Grady

Am very proud and honoured for my commissioned painting Panorama Europa to be highlighted and the curatorial prompt for the exhibition Panorama Europa at The Glucksman. And what a great and esteemed line up of artists! Very honoured! Looking forward to seeing the exhibition, artworks and exploring the themes at the official launch on Friday!

PANORAMA EUROPA takes its name from a commissioned work for the University College Cork art collection by artist Claire Halpin which was developed in partnership with the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence for EU Integration and Citizens’ Rights. This complex painting evokes renowned works of art across a present-day canvas of events. As with all the works on display in the exhibition, history and tradition become grounds for reclamation and caution, reminding us to remember, and renew, the past.

Huge Thanks to curators @fionakearney and @katie.o.grady_

Until 1 November 2026.
