***SOLD OUT*** UPDATED MODEL LINEUP!!! A few changes to our model lineup to announce. Sadly Lola lottie has had to cancel but in her place is the stunning Jade. I’ve also added Xander who will be blessing us with his Victorian attire which will fit perfectly. The details. Deliberately timed for 6-9pm to allow for beautiful summer evening light. We’ll have the grounds to ourselves for the duration. Stand like a mannequin I said and then it hit me. You know what would be good mick, the blade runner soundtrack. The makeup evolved after that, you can probably guess in what direction, but that’s a story for another post and how photoshoots can just evolve on set. Your maestro for the evening.Not the one playing the piano, the one deciding what the room looks like while somebody else plays it. I.e me!!There’s a strange kind of authority you have to fake when somebody’s watching you like you know exactly what you’re doing. Do I? Some days.This was one of the good days. My method generally is to decide if the background should blur or not first. For here the answer was obviously not too much. Adjust shutter without going into HSS if possible and not too slow to introduce motion blur and then decide ISO before introducing flash. For me a soft box rarely points straight at my subject, just the edge so light skims across, this prevents those nasty forehead hotspots! Anyway. Ran into someone the other week I’ve not seen in about two years and within about four minutes it was like no time had passed at all.Ring/message the person you’ve not spoken to in a while. Tomorrow is the first group shoot I’ve ever hosted and instead of doing something small and simple to start of with I decided to go big and get 16 models and 16 photographers together to shoot around the grounds of Middleton hall and gardens. All we need now is for the weather to do its thing and behave!Above is some images I took of the awesome @sarah_louise_modelling around the grounds of Middleton hall and gardens a few weeks back to wet the appetite of everyone attending tomorrow.Photographers you should have all had emails with the joining instructions, if you haven’t please let me know asap so I can get it sent to you again.I look forward to seeing you all there tomorrow evening, and can’t wait to see what everyone produces. by @firstadekit

Funny how the photos that look calmest are usually the ones where I’m quietly having a crisis. This one’s from up on the bridge inside the Zellig, which if you know it, you’ll know is one of those spots where the light does something proper nice through the ironwork.What you can’t see is putting on a a brave face because heights and I have never been mates. Self doubt/imposter syndrome, whatever you want to call it ? Read on…There are moments when I doubt myself, in all forms of life. It’s so easy to doubt yourself. Photography is competitive, and it’s easy to scroll through endless incredible work and start questioning whether you’re good enough, experienced enough, or creative enough.You second guess everything, especially if you’re autistic like me where planning can become more stressful than the actual gig. But there’s one thing I’ve learnt:NO ONE CAN SEE THE WORLD THE WAY YOU DO.Your attention to detail.The moment you choose to capture.The way you direct, connect and make people feel in front of the camera.Your style, your perspective, your personality and the experience you create, and even your editing can take a picture in a completely different direction to how anyone else would have visioned. That’s your advantage.Someone can use the same camera, the same lens, even stand in the same spot… and still never create images the way you do.Comparison steals confidence. Authenticity builds it.So if you’ve been doubting yourself lately, let this be your reminder:We don’t need another copy of somebody else. by @firstadekit

After a shitty day, a beach shoot was a nice end…☀️ 🌊 My fellow midlander @firstadekit travelled up from back home for an awesome shoot at the beach. Can’t wait to see them finished images as the natural light was banging! by @firstadekit
