Next Tuesday is the one year anniversary of kicking off the Prentiss DIY Project! Come celebrate, chill out, & skate the new builds at Prentiss, as well as some pop up ramps from First Glance! We’ll have some pizza & waters for free, & Kenmore Freeze will be open across the street for ice cream. We also have some decks & completes from @need_skateboarding_akron to giveaway, & we’ll be doing polls to see what kinda ramps yall want to skate next year! Last year felt like a family reunion for the Akron skate scene & I’m really excited to see everyone again next week!!! Thanks for all the support so far, can’t wait for yall to skate the DIY! 🛹❤️ taken in Prentiss Park by @firstglanceskatepark

Two big days coming up! Tommorow(July 3rd) is First Friday @ The BLVD & we are shutting down the street outside the skatepark to do a lil outdoor pop up skatepark! We will be giving away a bunch of product courtesy of @need_skateboarding_akron & there will be food trucks, vendors, live music, & a farmers market… should be a blast!

On July 11th, we are pouring the big quarterpipe hip, as well as holding a community meeting to give updates, take design input, & plan out the next half of the year. This will be a great chance to put some sweat equity into your hometown park, & make your voice heard on what you want to see in the future!

Hope to see everyone at these two events, & thank you to everyone who has helped so far with Prentiss!!! The Akron skate/BMX scene rules! 🫡 taken in Kenmore by @firstglanceskatepark

Hey guys, here’s the schedule for March! Sorry it’s a little late, we were trying to guess the weather towards the end of the month & what dates we wanted to start building at Prentiss. We are closing a little earlier this year to get a jump on working on the DIY, so our official last day of the season is Tuesday, March 17th. However, I am going to keep an eye on the weather over the next month or two, & if it seems like a particularly snowy/cold/rainy week, I will open up for some sessions, & let yall know on here.

If you have been participating in our beginners sessions this year & want a free board to skate all summer, please make sure to come in over the next few weeks so we can get ya set up!

Thanks for the support this year! We could not do what we are doing without all yall showing up every week, donating gear, & keeping the scene strong 🫡 See yall at Prentiss!

After lots of meetings, surveys, & help from @akronparkscollaborative, we finally have another outdoor skatepark coming to Akron! The city is coming together with us to start a sanctioned DIY at the tennis courts at Prentiss Park in Kenmore, & we’re aiming to get started building next spring! Next week, we are bringing all of the ramps from First Glance & @southstreetministries to do a “prototype park” at the spot during the City Night Out festival. There will be people from various city departments & the community there, & we really want to prove to them that this project is worth putting the resources & funds behind… so if you are in the Akron area & skate, quad/blade, or BMX, we need you to share this, show up, & hang out! Hope to see you guys ripping next Tuesday, 6:30PM-dark! Thanks again everybody for all the support, & I’m excited to see this project come to life 🛹 taken in Prentiss Park by @firstglanceskatepark

🎨🛹 The Akron ArtWalk event at @summitartspace was a blast yesterday! We teamed up with @kidsskateday for free lessons, @firstglanceskatepark to create a pop-up park and incredible art projects led by @thefelineparkingblock And BIG shoutout to @noah.is.fingerboarding for guiding the fun, epic fingerboard set-up 🙌

There were tons of smiles, high-fives, a few spills, and a whole lot of fun. The staff and volunteers had just as much fun as the kids!

Huge thanks to everyone who came out and made the day so special. Let’s do it again! 💥🖌️🛹 taken in Summit Artspace by @firstglanceskatepark
