Hope

🌎This month’s poem for the #firstlinepoets project, created by @emmajanepoetry. This month’s first line was given to me by the lovely @solaceinraindrops.

Hope holds so much emotional weight and investment, and this can be both an anchor and a burden. This duality also means that hope is not bound by rules. It can rise, fall, die and grow again, like leaves on a tree. And just like the leaves that fall around a tree, even fallen hope can nourish the rebirth of new hope, provided one lets the rain of truth reach the roots, holds faith that time will give perspective and heal wounds, and continues working towards their dreams through every season. Importantly, hope is both a product and an inspiration for the growth that bridges the gap between reality and our dreams.

Hope you enjoyed and let me know how this resonates! by @firstlinepoets

🌎Happy Halloween to all my witches and warlocks out there. 🎃🧙🏻‍♀️👻 These are scary times, so I bring you a #firstlinepoets @firstlinepoets poem to add a little chill to your bones. The horrors may persist, but that does not mean we allow ourselves to become desensitized. Keep voting, creating, raising hell, and caring for yourself and your communities. Thank you to my October writing partner @corinne_rion_poet for inspiring me with the line “I smile at the ghost in the mirror..." Appreciate you, Corinne!

Deep gratitude to @emmajanepoetry and @noellewritespoetry for staying in the trenches with our Whitman Group! 🌎

🌏Tarot Reading, written on 10/31-11/01/2026

This is part of the @firstlinepoets project by @emmajanepoetry and curated by @life_and_light_poetry , @soul.spills10 and @noellewritespoetry.

It took me a while as I worked on other projects. There were many nice options from @blueswoclues and this one finally stuck and struck while watching a psychic do a tarot reading.

I do read tarot and there are times when I ask the cards for guidance in life. They don't foresee the future but provide you with a perspective from the universe. So here's a poem doing just that and unfortunately, it's a sad reading.

Enjoy!

🌎 This month's #firstlinepoets piece, inspired by the beautiful line, "The leaves undress me of my worries" given by @words.by.helena

Cycle of Leaves

The leaves undress me of my worries
As each one blazes
Into vibrant color
Like a wish being made

All my hopes and prayers
Flittering on autumn's branches
Until the hues fade
And leaves dry and curl

In the sweet release
They drop to my feet
Scattered in the wind
Like all things soon will pass

🌍 This is my 85th poem for the First Line Poets Project run by @emmajanepoetry & @noellewritespoetry. For October, I was partnered with @jyotipoems , who provided me with beautiful lines. (Thank you!) I chose “I’ve lost count of my tears…”.

October was extra heavy this year. I’m looking forward to November. 🤍
.

I lost count of my tears between September and my latest breath, each moment all consuming as I shatter on repeat. They say time heals, but it merely forms a scab that life needles until I bleed again. And it’s hard to smile while hyperventilating, so don’t look at me. I’m not the person I used to be.

🌍 My October poem for the First Line Poets Project @firstlinepoets. Thanks to @strongandgracefulpoetry for the first line, “Despite the crack, love still blooms.”
Grateful to @emmajanepoetry, the founder, for the opportunity, and to @serena.morrigan, the group curator, for nurturing the community 🌎
.
.
.
Despite the cracks, love still blooms,
a defiant rebellion against the end.
It does not ask the past to vanish
or make perfection of a friend.
It grows through all we cannot change,
with roots that darkness cannot claim,
and flowers that need no perfect ground.
