We took VicBlends surfing 🤙

It was an absolute blessing running into @vicblends and his partner and getting to teach them how to surf.

Vic is someone we respect a lot in this space. Just a genuinely great dude, and his partner was just as awesome.

No exaggeration, they were two of the most natural first-time surfers we’ve ever seen.

Thanks for trusting us with the experience guys. Keep it up 🤙 taken in Waikiki, Hawaii by @firstwaveproject

About a week after his video came out, we randomly ran into Fernando in Waikiki and got to catch up!

He shared how surfing made him more confident in himself and more comfortable going out and trying new things!

COME ON LET’S GO!!! 🙌

We also got talking about his video, and he told us how blown away he was by all the love and encouragement in the comments.

So we just want to give a special thank you to this incredible community. 🤍

To everyone who continues to show up with love, kindness, and encouragement, we hope you know the impact you’re making on people’s lives.

You guys are a huge part of what makes First Wave Project so special. 🌊🤍 taken in Waikiki, Hawaii by @firstwaveproject

EP overcame his irrational fears and learned something about them.

Jody stepped outside her comfort zone and did something she never thought she would do.

Surfing isn’t just fun. It teaches us, challenges us, and shapes us.

Patience, confidence, trust, humility, gratitude… the list goes on.

Forever grateful for surfing. 🤍 taken in Waikiki, Hawaii by @firstwaveproject

I’ve personally been following Sam for a while now, and I’ve always admired what he does.

He finds struggling restaurants, secretly reviews their food, and shares his experience with his followers. Sometimes, all a small business needs is a little exposure, and that simple act of kindness can change everything. ❤️

Sam is usually the one making someone else’s day, so when we randomly crossed paths in Waikiki, we thought it would be pretty special to put him on the receiving end for a change.

We got to take him surfing, share some laughs, and get to know the guy behind the videos. And he’s exactly the kind of guy you’d expect to be doing this kind of work. Just a genuinely good dude!

Sam, you spend so much time making other people’s days. We’re grateful we got to be a small part of making yours 🤍 taken in Waikiki, Hawaii by @firstwaveproject

David is 8 years old, autistic, and has dreamed of surfing since he was 3. His mom never felt comfortable trusting anyone to take him out, but she told us she would feel comfortable if it was with us. We knew we had to make that dream come true for David!

Today, he caught his first wave 🥹🤍 by @firstwaveproject

They asked us to take their picture. A few minutes later, they were learning to surf. 🌊

What inspired us most was how quickly they said yes. No hesitation. No letting age, fear, or nerves decide for them.

Athena was nervous, but she did it anyway and absolutely crushed it.

We hope we never stop being this open to new experiences. Never stop learning. And never let age become a reason to stop trying something new.

Sharing someone’s first wave will always be a privilege. 🤍 taken in Waikiki, Hawaii by @firstwaveproject

Trey can’t swim. So how did we feel comfortable taking him surfing?

First, we want to make something very clear: you should know how to swim before you go surfing.

But Waikiki is a special place. Where we teach, the water is shallow enough to stand the entire time. If you fall off the board, you can simply stand up. We also put Trey in a life jacket as an extra precaution, and he had three experienced surfers in the water with him every step of the way.

When we first asked him, his response was:

“I can’t swim. Nah, I don’t trust that, bro. I’m good.”

And a little while later he was standing on a surfboard

A guy who had never been in the ocean and couldn’t swim got the opportunity to do something he genuinely never thought he could do.

That’s what made this one so special 🤍 taken in Waikiki, Hawaii by @firstwaveproject

We often learn a lesson when we go surfing. This one was powerful.

Your past experiences don’t have to define your future.

After nearly drowning multiple times, he had only been in the ocean three times. Fear and panic had shaped his relationship with the water for years.

But today, he said yes.

By the end, he told us he felt more comfortable in the ocean and that surfing taught him something he’ll carry far beyond the water: how to stay calm under pressure.

At any moment, you can decide your past no longer gets to write your future! taken in Waikiki, Hawaii by @firstwaveproject

“He kept saying, ‘I wanna surf, babe.’ I said, ‘Great, you’re on your own. I’ll watch and record you from the shore.’
