There's a big difference between commercial fur farming and using homestead byproducts. All the fur used here comes from a small homestead where the animals are raised for food and the fur is a natural byproduct, ensuring that an organic material is respectfully used instead of discarded.
As an artist, this was a very conscious decision over faux fur, or sourcing real fur hides from sketchy fur farms that generate waste and have horrible conditions. The choice of a natural, biodegradable material enabled me to work with a raw, biological presence and a visceral history that synthetic alternatives simply cannot replicate. The medium is the message!

(Today, a homestead is a property used for a lifestyle of self-sufficiency. It focuses on sustainable living, often including vegetable gardening, raising small livestock, canning food, and generating one's own power. Many homesteads also sell their products to generate and income. Modern homesteads can range from rural acreage to small urban lots.) by @fishiestboy
