“You do everything else on your phone. Why not vote?” — @mobile.voting 📱

Yesterday, Fisk University students, staff, and faculty welcomed Bradley Tusk, a renowned political strategist and author, as he discussed the importance of mobile voting. Everyone has the right to vote, but oftentimes, mail-in ballots and in-person voting polls create challenges.

At Fisk University, we are committed to social justice and equity, and we are elated to support this initiative. Special thanks to Dr. LaTanya Rogers, the Honors Student Council, and Campus Ambassador Dania Rutherford for assisting with this event!

The Fall Honors Symposium was incredible as guest speaker and novelist, Jamila Minnicks, rendered a powerful oration on the importance of African American literature and storytelling. She read excerpts from her book, Moonrise Over New Jessup, and students received free, signed copies of the award-winning novel.

On this day, we commemorate the birthday of Dr. W.E.B. Du Bois, a remarkable sociologist, activist, teacher, and writer. Dr. Du Bois blazed trails through his prolific work and activism, and he continues to impact and inspire generations! Today, students, faculty, staff, and alumni gathered together in the historic Fisk Memorial Chapel to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Du Bois. Sophomore Biology and Pre-Medicine student, Hailey Clark, beautifully reflected on her trip to Ghana in May 2023. She expressed how her life was “forever transformed mentally, emotionally, and spiritually” as she explored the “ancestral motherland” along with her Fisk peers and faculty. Check out this video which captures her explorations and highlights the beautiful Accra, Ghana — Du Bois’ final home.
