The original intent for this Instagram was to be a fitness “spam” account where I shared random crap about my fitness journey when I first started working with a BB coach. I didn’t want to subject people who didn’t care about that aspect of my life on my main account so I separated them. Since I moved to ATX five years ago, this account has grown and slowly become my main account because of how amazing the community is here.

At some point, I got away from oversharing the more vulnerable side of my journey and have transitioned to just sharing a bunch of random shit about my life because I don’t take social media that seriously. I stepped away from competitive BB spring 2025 and have found a lot of joy in pouring myself into other aspects of my identity and posting about that instead.

I feel like I’m doing myself/y’all a disservice by not being completely open (lolz) and I would like to get back to a place where I am sharing more of the tough moments like I had done in the past. It’s nice knowing that oversharing and never shutting up on social media can be helpful. For example, people have told me that because I’ve been open about my experience with psychosis/mania, they’ve been able to identify early signs of it within their friends.

I also sometimes get DMs from people I have connected with over the years on Instagram through the sport about how I handled stepping away from competing and coping with the grief of letting go of pursuing such an intense goal because they are wanting to take a break from the lifestyle.

When you commit to something for YEARS it becomes woven into your identity, routines, and vision of the future. There’s also this sense of hope attached to the goal where you believe once you achieve X, Y, or Z you’ll feel satisfied or accomplished. My therapist has brought up this psychological phenomenon called “ambiguous loss” in the past. Unlike a death or a breakup, nothing tangible has disappeared.

Big congrats to our beautiful girl Sam for killin it yesterday at Republic and giving me an excuse to dedicate an entire dump to the day (srsly I took 140 photos). You’re the hardest worker in the room and I’m so proud of you. I love watching you live & breathe this lifestyle. Time to celebrate 🍣🍱 !! taken in Fairmont Austin by @fitlikeyas
