What an amazing way to end the week!

Exploring art, history, and maps, Fairfield Middle School’s Advanced Art students took a creative journey through the South Caroliniana Library with Five6 Media Group. Thank you to the students at Fairfield Middle School and the members of Five6 Media Group for visiting us. Students explored how historical primary resources can contribute to scholarly conversations and a wider perspective of historical events, and got to interact with items from Rare Books, Government Documents and maps and more! Beyond engaging with materials, students participated in tours of the South Caroliniana Library, the Horseshoe, Ernest F. Hollings Special Collections Library, and even stopped to say hello to Richard T. Greener!

Check out today’s adventures. Remember, when in doubt, head to the special collections for a little magic. taken in University of South Carolina Libraries by @five6mg

Yesterday Five6 Media Group had the pleasure of Cultivating Creativity with the 6th-8th grade students of Muller Road Middle School Leadership Academy. Through a coordinated activity, students were introduced to Automatism & Abstract Cubism, a form of art that refers to creating art without conscious thought. The students worked hard and produced some great work! Let us know in the comments what you think!

A major thanks to the staff at Muller Rd Middle School for coordinating with us on this project @dr_brandonross

If your school, nonprofit, church or organization is interested in a similar experience, feel free to email us at five6mg@gmail.com or send us a DM on Instagram @Five6MG. #CultivateCreavity #Automatism #AbstractCubism #Art #Design by @five6mg
