I was taking a nap today and my phone started buzzing. I woke up to a text from Willy and a bunch of other texts and notifications that were coming in. He got the bolt tatted on his left arm!! Needless to say, my brain was broken. I was instantly left humbled and speechless at the same time. - When I first started this I went and got the bolt tatted on my right knuckle in an attempt to remind myself that this is an all or nothing type of thing. Then some shit went down and I sort of went ghost on myself. Fast forward a year and I got a text from @manwaring30 that he got the bolt tatted on his thigh. A year after that I was playing a round with @zach3wolansky and that mfer didn’t even tell me he got it inked on his calf. We were walking to the 15th tee and I almost caught some tears. Now @wavegodwilcox1. An absolute legend of the game, and someone who I have looked up to for a while for how he carries himself. - As much as the early mornings and late nights drive me, there’s no denying that sometimes self-doubt kicks in. Am I doing it right? Is there a safer route? Can I be doing more for myself, for the brand? I often wonder if I’m doing what I’m supposed to. Sometimes the voice saying “I can’t” is louder than the one that says “I can”. - But if I have learned anything in this life, it’s about which one you tune into and let ring the loudest. And then suddenly I get a text like the one I got today, and am reminded that I am doing enough. I am doing exactly what I was put on earth here to do. Spreading love and passion through the game that pretty much saved my life when I was down and out. - So thank you Willy aka The Wave God for the reminder and championing the brand like you have, spreading the bolt throughout the golf community. And thank you to Alex, Zach, and every single one of you who has mentioned my name in a room I wasn’t. Bought a piece of merch. Liked, shared, or reposted a post or story. You all have helped get this thing this farther than I initially imagined. I appreciate it more than you know. Fl0 turned 5 this summer, but we still have only just begun. Fl0g0lf ‘til infinity. One of the cool things about being a Teaching Professional is the ability to connect with my peers within the industry to help better the lives of others through the game of golf, just like it has done for me. Next month, my buddy Mike Cellini (Assistant Pro at Wethersfield Country Club) and I will be teaming up in the Connecticut Section PGA’s “Birdies Fore Brighter Futures” Event at Shuttle Meadow Country Club. We need some help to reach our fundraising goal, with all proceeds going towards two incredible local causes: Connecticut Children’s Foundation and the Connecticut PGA Golf Foundation. Our goal is simple. To make as many birdies as we can and turn those birdies into $$$ for two organizations that do so much for children, families, and the game of golf here in CT. This game has provided me with so much more than I could have ever imagined when I began walking through the cutout in the woods on West Shepard to the course as a young teenager during the summers, set on beating the sunrise to get a few practice putts and chips in before Jr. League teed off on Friday mornings. The seed was planted, and my love for the game has blossomed ever since, to the point where I now get to share that love with others daily. And what I find even crazier - I get to call it my job. Thank you for believing in the cause and supporting our journey; we’re excited to tee it up from the wrong side of the ball and raise as much money as two lefties can. I teach golf and sell clothes for a living. I am also technically a college professor. I can finally say I am back in good standing with the PGA of America (Level 2). I have been working hard on myself and staying patient, and it is starting to pay off. The driving range where I teach is nearly complete. My lesson book is continuously full, and I am forever grateful for that. I have students booking a month out. Someone came to me this morning after they learned about me on Reddit. Apparently I have a following on there. I get pictures from people across the world wearing clothing with my drawings and designs on them. A handful of strangers (who have grown to become lifelong friends through the great game of golf) have the logo permanently inked on their skin. Do you know how psyched my 17 year old self would be if I told them that all of this was going to happen and all I had to do was trust the process? In classic fashion I would probably tell him to kick rocks. My life is so full right now. I spend a lot of time with the doers of the world. I have a team of people that I can count on, and equally important; they can count on me. My inner circle keeps me in check. I can’t thank my family and close friends enough for sticking by my side through each detour I made along the way. To come from where I have been (by no fault other than my own); rock bottom(s), a compilation of poor life choices and delusions of grandeur for extended periods of time... sometimes it doesn’t even feel real. Fl0 stands for something bigger than me. For Lovers 0f. The Chompers. Married to the game. The ones who couldn’t live without it. Addicted to the pursuit of 1% better. There is so much stuff coming soon that I wish I could talk more about. Fresh content, new merch, events. My name is spreading throughout the local golf community, and for the right reasons. I got a new medicus. I am feeling freer on the golf course. Golf is fun again. Someone said to me the other day the pep is back in my step. I would have to agree. Life is good. I want to be here.
