My debut children’s book with 35 artworks.
I can’t believe we’re just 2 weeks away from
The Paper Girl, created in collaboration with @caryllewis2 @flcbooks @quartokids @ksantos

Looking back at videos from over the years, it’s wild to realize that every cut, layer, and technique was leading up to this exact moment. This debut children’s picture book is a true labor of love that took countless hours and so much patience.

✨Pre-Order Exclusives✨
To celebrate the launch, every pre-order qualifies for a signed bookplate and an exclusive matching bookmark.

✨Note on claiming your gifts✨
Because the bookplates and bookmarks are shipped separately from the book itself, you will need to fill out a quick form so I know where to send them:

1. Tap the link in bio and pre-order The Paper Girl at your favorite retailer.

2. Enter your shipping info on the same link.

You can use the link in bio to do both😊

Pre-orders during these final two weeks mean the absolute world to independent authors and artists—they signal to bookstores and libraries how much love there is for hand-crafted art.

Thank you so much for following along on this journey with me!! by @flcbooks

Hi! I’m Eunyoung Seo, the illustrator of the Cat Family series. Cat Family Birthday, the fourth book in the series, is now published! The whole family is busy getting ready for the twins’ birthday party.

As I draw their happy and warm everyday moments, I find myself reflecting on the peaceful days I spend with my own family.
(Of course, my strict cat assistants also helped!)

I’ve packed this book with so many memories—memories of having or being invited to birthday parties, the heart-pounding feeling of opening a gift box, and those purely fun days. I hope many readers feel happy as they open the flaps, just like unwrapping a gift box.

And take a sneak peek at the work process for the next Cat Family book coming out soon! by @flcbooks

I’m Jessica Roux, and I’m sharing the behind-the-scenes process of illustrating Thank You For This Day!

I always start by gathering inspiration from nature, whether that is in my local park or in my own backyard. From there, I create sketches. This book is full of sweet nature scenes with lots of hidden details. Next, I create a detailed graphite pencil drawing, then scan it in and digitally paint to add color. I hope you enjoyed seeing a peek behind the curtain of how the artwork is created for a picture book! by @flcbooks

It’s still me! Jack Kurland! One final time.

This was the stage where everything started to feel very real. Adding colour, final artwork, proofs, and all the finishing touches that transform a collection of ideas and sketches into an actual book.

Adding colour is probably my favourite part of the process. By this point, all the tricky problem-solving had (mostly) been done, and I could focus on bringing the artwork to life with colour, texture and detail.

Because ‘The Dog Who Was (Almost) Perfect’ takes place in the same world as ‘The Cat Who Couldn’t Be Bothered’, I wanted to keep exactly the same colour palette. That meant fewer decisions for returning characters, but it also created a new challenge: figuring out how to make busy scenes feel interesting and engaging while working within a limited set of colours. With my first book, I loved hearing from parents, teachers and friends about how their child had enjoyed scanning the busier pages, looking at the details. I wanted to have that in this book too.

When it came to the cover, I’d already set the rules with my first book. So, it was about trying different poses and picking the best one for Doris, that fully represents her, whilst making sure it stands out on the shelves.

Each stage can feel like the next thing to solve, until suddenly, it’s done. First, it’s sketches, then storyboards, then final artwork, then proofs with notes and tiny corrections. So, when the finished book finally arrived, it was amazing to see all those drawings, edits and decisions had turned into an actual book you can hold in your hands.

Thanks for enduring my takeover and for letting me share a glimpse of how this book was made. I hope you enjoy ‘The Dog Who Was (Almost) Perfect’, with more to come from the Cat and Dog world. by @flcbooks
