FLEE Dance & Wellness is headed to the Bay July 27-August 2 for a week of movement, technique, storytelling, community, performance, and conversation.

From Oakland to the Mission District to the Fillmore, this homecoming is rooted in the places, people, and training that helped shape me as an artist — and now I get to return, share, teach, build, and move in community.

Join us for workshops at the African American Arts & Culture Complex, Dance Mission Theater, leading into our Saturday Finale: a Bay Area Homecoming Performance + Book Interview + Community Activation at the African American Arts & Culture Complex.

This week will also connect to my post-pandemic recovery journey, FLEE Dance & Wellness repertory, community movement, and my book Past Shame: Still Here — Undetectable & Untransmittable: A Miracle in Real Time.

Coproduced by We Build Cathedrals.

Move with us in class.
Build with us in community.
Share the space with us on Saturday.

To God be all the glory! 🙌🏾✨

Just two days after my birthday, I have the incredible honor of presenting my first evening-length show in New York City—and I couldn’t be more grateful.

STILL HERE is more than a performance. It’s a celebration of God’s faithfulness, resilience, healing, community, and hope through dance and storytelling.

To everyone who has prayed, encouraged me, donated, purchased my book, or supported this journey—thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your love, generosity, and encouragement have helped make this moment possible.

If you’re in New York, I’d love to celebrate with you on Sunday, August 23 at Arts On Site. If you can’t attend, you can still support by purchasing a ticket, sharing this post, or donating to help bring this work to audiences in both San Francisco and New York City.

Every prayer, ticket, share, and donation makes a difference.

Today, FLEE Dance & Wellness had the honor of visiting Project IMPACT Augusta, an HIV-prevention program serving Augusta and 12 surrounding counties across East Central Georgia through education, testing, PrEP access and connections to care.

I shared my lived experience, answered questions and listened to their insight on what is still needed to reduce stigma and better serve people affected by HIV.

I left with valuable resources, deep gratitude and the joy of donating a signed copy of my book, PAST SHAME, to the center and the greater Augusta community.

Thank you, Project IMPACT, for welcoming me with open arms and for the life-changing work you continue to do.

This is how survival becomes service.

Frankie @fleedance and I have been talking through the class and y’all… I’m getting HELLA EXCITED. 😆

I keep imagining the freestyle circle… everybody hyping each other up, the music hitting just right, people letting go and finding that sweet spot where they’re not thinking anymore—they’re just dancing, inspiring each other and SLAYING!🗡️🐉✨

That’s my favorite part of teaching.

Those moments where strangers walk in and leave feeling like community. 🖤

That’s the energy we’re creating for ROOTS & RHYTHM.

We’ll honor the roots of jazz through the African diaspora, explore technique together, laugh together, and yes… we’re definitely gonna CUT UP. 😎🔥

If you’ve been needing a little joy, movement, and good people in your life, I hope you’ll join us.

🗓 Friday, July 31

Join me and the incredible Alicia Langlais for an evening rooted in movement, music, history, and community.

This isn’t just another dance class—it’s an experience. We’ll explore the African roots of jazz, build technique, move across the floor, freestyle together, and leave inspired.

Come for the technique.
Stay for the community.

Four years ago, I wasn’t sure if I would live.

Today, I’m preparing to teach, perform, share my book, and create spaces where movement, conversation, and community help break the stigma surrounding HIV.

This isn’t just about dance.
This isn’t just about a book.
This is about turning survival into service.

Every city I visit becomes an opportunity to:
🤍 Teach community dance classes.
📚 Donate and discuss my book.
🩵 Educate about HIV and U=U (Undetectable = Untransmittable).
🌎 Build healing through art, movement, and honest conversation.

Your donation doesn’t just help me travel—it helps bring these experiences to communities that deserve them.

Whether it’s $5, $25, $100, or simply sharing this post, you’re helping transform one person’s survival into hope for someone else.

If my story has ever encouraged you, inspired you, or reminded you that healing is possible, I’d be honored if you’d help me continue this mission.

Every gift matters.
Every share matters.
Every person reached matters.

Thank you for believing in this journey. by @fleedance

From sharing joy, laughter, and childlike play with families at Marbles Kids Museum through American Dance Festival — right in the area where I went to middle school — to returning to Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School, where I went to high school and began taking dance more seriously, to work with the band dancers under Dezzi. @adf_dancestudios @amerdancefest @marblesraleigh

The places that helped raise me are now places I get to pour back into.

Movement is community. Movement is legacy. Movement is joy. Movement is discipline.

And this Saturday, I get to keep pouring into the community with NC Underground for Summer Conservatory Week 3. @ncundergrounddance

Come train with me:

Flexibility & Mobility Lab — 1:00–2:00 PM
Ballet Foundations — 2:10–3:10 PM
Turns & Leaps Lab — 3:20–4:20 PM

I gotta Empire State of Mind when it comes to reaching my goal. In my original post, I opened up about my life changing diagnosis & y’all showed up with love. Y’all showed up with support. Y’all showed up with encouragement & only 2 people showed up with a donation. 👀😭

So if I have to climb the Empire State Building to get the message across, I will 😂💁🏽‍♂️

Go donate to my GoFundMe please. LINK IN BIO

Four years ago, my HIV diagnosis brought me back to North Carolina.

I was on my deathbed, fighting to survive, and eventually had to relearn how to walk, heal, move, and see myself again.

But by the grace of God, I am still here.

I am alive.
I am undetectable and untransmittable.
I am still dancing.
I am still healing.
I am still becoming.

This fundraiser supports my next chapter through FLEE Dance & Wellness — rooted in testimony, dance, healing, community care, HIV/AIDS awareness, book outreach, teaching, and performance.

My book, Past Shame: Still Here — Undetectable & Untransmittable: A Miracle in Real Time, shares the deeper details of my journey and is available on Amazon and Kindle in English, Portuguese, Spanish, German, and Italian.

Your support helps with travel, housing, workshops, performances, book outreach, community partnerships, and the continued growth of this work.

Ways to support: donate, share, purchase the book, sponsor books for the community, connect me with organizations, or partner through workshops, ads, logos, book talks, classes, or sponsorship.

Every prayer, donation, share, purchase, connection, and partnership helps me keep going.

I am alive.
I am still here.
And I am grateful.
