FOUNDER STORY | As eboga providers, we are often asked the difference between the isolated alkaloid ib•gaine, and the full spectrum root bark, eboga.

Each expression of the medicine serve a powerful purpose, one not better or more effective than the other—simply different. Each unfolding is unique and of its own truth.

In this moving essay, our founder @fletchman speaks on his experience working with both medicines to heal substance abuse, and to truly learn what it means to be in right relationship.

Whichever path you find yourself on, trust the process. by @fletchman

Tenderloin, back when the air tasted like metal. I’m sitting on a fire hydrant waiting for the man, the one who moved like a rumor fingernails stained the color of wilted violets and eyes that looked like he hadn’t slept since god turned the lights on. He wasn’t a dealer so much as a traveling wound that handed out other wounds.
People talk about “rock bottom” like it’s a single event. Mine was more of a residency. A long term lease with no option to renew.
I didn’t know a thing about sustainability then. I don’t know if I do now. The pressure just grew new limbs, softer ones maybe, but heavier. Running a company that speaks of rebirth feels ironic on the days I’m still learning how to breathe.
And yet there’s something holy about that version of me. The feral one. The one who learned to track danger by scent, who could read a street corner like scripture, who knew how to survive on nothing but spite and a faint pulse.
Sometimes I wonder if that kid saved my life so this one could exist. Or if I’m still here trying to save him. Maybe that’s what healing is, a long distance rescue mission across timelines.
Look at the photo and you’ll see it. It’s not a pose, not an aesthetic, just a lost boy balancing on a hydrant because the ground felt guilty to stand on. And somehow he’s still here. Uprightish. Breathingish. Trying.
If the world is going to be absurd, at least let me be awake for it. At least let me turn the grotesque into something that version of me never got to see. Something BEAUTIFUL. by @fletchman

THE UNVEILING | Our Phase 0 proof of concept is complete, and the vision ahead is vast. Through the eyes of our architects at @wesotaller our future retreat center became something you could finally see, touch, and sense.

For The Unveiling, we placed our renderings along the desert path so guests could meet the project on the very ground it will rise from. We created a walking meditation for two groups of seekers, the sticks and the stones, to listen to as they walked the corridor between the mountains and the sea.

With each step, the desert offered its silence and its guidance. People listened. They watched. They softened into the pace of this place and felt, even if for a moment, what this land holds.

Thank you to everyone who helped bring this installation into form. It was a labor of love. taken in Plutarco Elías Calles, Baja California Sur, Mexico by @fletchman

THE UNVEILING | On Día de los Muertos we stepped into a new chapter of our work. The Unveiling brought together community, celebration and the traditions we hold so close. Our greater vision felt deeply alive on ETÉREO land.

Thank you to everyone who walked the desert path with us and offered your presence, your care, and your belief in what is coming next.

Here I am on Apu Ausangate, looking like I lost a fight with my own ego, disheveled, vulnerable, and completely unpolished. Perfect representation of me pretending to be some kind of initiated plant medicine person.

Initiation isn’t a crown. It’s not a badge of honor. It’s the doorway. The invitation to responsibility, humility, and self knowledge. True lineages that have walked with these plants for generations would never call themselves experts or even specialists. They apprentice themselves to the plants, they grow with them, they listen, they show up over and over again. Each plant has its own life, its own medicine. Potency shifts. Medicine shifts. You can’t control it, and you definitely can’t own it. You grow with it, you stumble with it, you learn from it. You freeze in a tent questioning everything you thought you knew about yourself, and somehow that is exactly where the real work lives.

Words like “initiated,” “expert,” “specialist” get tossed around a lot in this space. And I get it. While I have never felt called to use the former two, initiated is one I have leveraged. I’ve leaned on it, played with it, even used it to carry weight I didn’t earn. Not as a beginner fumbling, but as someone who has walked far enough to feel its gravity. And that’s the irony, the same word that’s meant to mark a beginning, a doorway, can easily become armor for the ego, a way to make ourselves feel important.

This photo is the perfect reminder that the real work isn’t in the words, it’s in showing up messy, awkward, vulnerable, humbled by what’s bigger than you. There is no polish, no performance, no shortcut. You just sit in the tent of your own messiness, notice it, let it unfold, and be present. That is where the teaching actually lives. by @fletchman

To speak of Huachuma is to speak of relationship, not medicine. It is not something to consume, a tool, or a remedy. It is a living presence, a teacher of the heart, humble and confident, offering its wisdom with quiet certainty.

Unlike more assertive medicines that arrive with intensity, Huachuma has nothing to prove. It teaches through presence, not spectacle, revealing that healing is about remembering what has always been whole and learning to move in right relationship, or Ayni, the sacred balance and reciprocity that sustains all of life. by @fletchman

Huachuma, the cactus of the Andes, is one of the three sacred medicines we hold at ETÉREO. Known as a heart-opening ally, it invites softness, vision, and deep connection.

THE FOLD 🌵👁️🗿

A weekend of ceremony held at the edge of the arroyo, in the arms of the desert.

Hosted by ETÉREO founder Fletcher Burdick, a practitioner initiated into the Q’ero tradition of the Peruvian Andes…this gathering invites you into communion with self, the unseen and the land.

Huachuma | Grounding | Expansion | Integration

Nature immersion, collective ceremony, one-on-one sessions and long quiet pauses.

This retreat also offers the opportunity to experience the teachings of 5 or El Sapo 🐸 in an intimate container with seasoned facilitators. A powerful opening, woven gently into the weekend’s arc.

Held at ETÉREO | AIRE LIBRE, our off-grid desert basecamp.

GETTING TO THE ROOT WITH THE SACRED ROOT 🫚 IB•GA at @etereo__baja

Round two with Iboga—2.5 years later—was a proper showdown. Challenging, confronting, HARD AF. You can read about in my previous posts and Substack 🔗👆 (more coming soon on the pod). And yet… I’m so grateful to finally know my truth.

There’s a million things I could say about @etereo__baja and my recent Ib•ga experience with them. Yes, the experience scores high on all the details that make a plant medicine retreat impactful: nourishing meals, safety screening, on-site medical, psychotherapeutic support, beautiful nature, comfort and luxury, prep and integration guidance…

But what I struggle to find words for is the team. These gorgeous humans!!! I’m grateful and honoured to have been held, cared for, and tended to in my rawest state by these wonderful, honest, down-to-earth, real-ass humans.

I don’t quite have the vocabulary to express my gratitude for Team Etéreo, but here is my attempt: Truly the most grounded, organically formed, professional and HILARIOUS team. What a privilege it is to work with them & share their work with you all in this way.

They hold a deep reverence for Ib•ga and Bwiti while also knowing the line: They’re not the keepers of this medicine. They are providers. Bridge keepers. Space holders. And boy, do they ever hold the space.

Real ass humans are rarer than you’d think in these spaces. It was refreshing to see a team so devoted to both the medicine path AND their own passions & human lives. Relatability creates deep trust.

Some love notes & words to gratitude for them in the photos above 👆💌

Diboti IB🌀GA. Diboti Bwiti. Diboti this Life.

LIVE. LAUGH. LOVE. The cringey secret to life, uncovered. ✨

BASSÉ—live your truth. Thank you, Etéreo. I love you!!!!

With a clear mind & strong heart,

In my sit with the Grandfather yesterday, Apu Huachuma, I was brought home. To the land, to my heart, and as always, to my grandfather, Poppo. His spirit moves through my ceremonies with the same gentle strength as the medicine itself and the ancient ones who have walked with it for millenniums. Kind and nurturing, yet firm when needed. Deeply connected to nature, and wise beyond words. A presence that doesn’t just teach but reminds me to remember.
This time, he wasn’t alone. My father was there. His father was there, and in their presence, I was reflected not only as a son but as a father, standing at the crossroads of generations. I felt the lineage moving through me, reparenting itself, healing itself. And in that space, truths emerged. gifts to pass down to my own son.

The Path is Already Sacred – it is not in front of me but beneath me. There is nothing to chase. Every step, even the uncertain ones, are part of the ceremony of life.

Surrender is Strength – True power comes not from control, but from trusting the flow. The more I release, the more I receive.

The Heart is the Compass – When the mind is lost in questions, the heart already knows the answer. Walk with it open, and the way reveals itself.

Nature is a Teacher, Not Just a Mirror – Pachamama does not only reflect me; she guides me, corrects me, humbles me, and loves me without condition.

Stillness Speaks Louder Than Words – In silence, the plant continues its work. I do not need to explain or prove my experience, only embody it.

Love is the Ultimate Ceremony – Beyond rituals, beyond wisdom, the highest initiation is love. To love fully, freely, and fearlessly is the greatest path.

I Am Already Home –There is nowhere to arrive, no higher state to attain. The lesson is to simply be. Fully, present, fully alive.

I carry these truths forward, for myself, for my son, for all the fathers before and after me. The work is endless, and the love is infinite. by @fletchman

Out here in the highlands, where the air feels like an ancient memory and the mountains stand unbothered by the tiny dramas of the world below, you get this feeling. It creeps up on you between breaths, a gentle whisper that maybe, just maybe, none of this is as serious as we think. The hats, the ponchos, the laughter that echoes off the rocks, all these small rituals we create to shape the formless.

In these wild landscapes, there’s no room for ego or pretense. Every step strips you down, peeling away layers of ambition, pride, worry. Just four souls, sharing a moment that won’t be caught in any net of meaning or grand plan. And maybe that’s the point. To show up fully, laugh at the absurdity of it all, and leave the rest to the wind. 📸 @baileyamber taken in Apu Pachatusan by @fletchman
