Press Trip Diaries: On 16 July, Vessels of Other Worlds, Wallace Chan’s most ambitious project to date, opened at @Thelongmuseum (West Bund) in Shanghai.

This marks the second chapter of a landmark dual-site exhibition following its successful launch in May at Venice's Chapel of Santa Maria della Pietà alongside the 61st Venice Biennale.

Curated by James Putnam, Vessels of Other Worlds unfolds across Venice and Shanghai through live transmission and mirrored installations, creating a dialogue between the two cities. At the Long Museum, visitors are guided through a sequence of passages and corridors tracing the evolution of Wallace Chan's artistic practice, with references to his previous Venice Biennale presentations – Titans (2021), Totem (2022) and Transcendence (2024). The journey culminates in an expansive gallery where three monumental titanium sculptures, standing seven, eight and ten metres tall, come into view, inviting visitors to experience the works on an immersive scale.

The Flint Culture team was delighted to support the Shanghai opening through an international press trip, welcoming journalists to join the exclusive preview of the exhibition and facilitating interviews with Wallace Chan and key project contributors. Swipe through to see some images taken during the team’s time in the city.

Congratulations to all involved in bringing the remarkable international exhibition to life!
