FLM CERAMICS šŸ‰
Handmade Tile & Pottery by a small team in Petaluma CA -Author of ā€œHandmade Tileā€
-2014 Ceramic Artist of the Year @petalumapottery
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Like our tile, FLM Ceramics stoneware is hard to place on any timeline; it fits in a contemporary kitchen, yet it feels like the past, it’s like antique-ware from any given part of the world though it’s meant to be used daily. It’s comfortable on a formal dining table and in your car’s drink holder, and like cast iron it gets better with age.
Designed by Forrest Lesch-Middelton, and made by a small team in Petaluma, California, our dinnerware is wheel thrown, pressed and trimmed, then patterns are applied by skillful hands so that each pot retains a unique feel from one to the next. It feels like an heirloom, and yet it is at its best when used daily taken in Forrest Lesch-Middelton Ceramics by @flmceramics

Since 2012, Forrest Lesch-Middelton has been making custom tiles that graces homes, restaurants, kitchens, hotels, and businesses, internationally. At FLM Ceramics we take pride in our work, each tile is made, fired, packed and shipped from our Petaluma, CA studio. Each step of the process is done with skilled hands and great attention to detail, yielding a final result with beautiful variation, rich depth, hues, and textures that give new tile installations an immediate sense of history.

We take pride in our communication and craftsmanship and would love to work with you to turn your vision into a reality! taken in Forrest Lesch-Middelton Ceramics by @flmceramics

Forrest is inherently an educator and community builder. In 2018, along with his wife Beth Schaible, he founded Petaluma Pottery (P2). Embracing a philosophy that education, like inspiration, is both reciprocal and inevitable in a creative environment. Our teaching studio is adjacent to, and barriers often blur with our production space, allowing inspiration to flow freely, and ambition to thrive. We teach 9 public classes a week, have a robust collegial community membership, and welcome workshops from professionals from around the globe. taken in Forrest Lesch-Middelton Ceramics by @flmceramics

It was such an incredible weekend, of course that’s no big surprise when you’ve got the dynamic duo of @suzepots57 and @vincemontague making, doing, and sharing with a group of students willing to dive deep into the process of developing a creative voice! We were asked by so many from far away if we could livestream this powerful and exciting workshop, and while we were sad to say no, it was the right decision because this was something that had to be felt as much as seen or heard. But don’t worry, we are already hatching a plan for a weeklong with these two one day! #petaluma #pottery #creativecommunity by @flmceramics

Our dinnerware is designed to elevate everything that comes with the joys of eating, cooking, sitting down with friends, and slowing down to enjoy the moment. They are durable stoneware, they get better with age, and while the feel like heirloom dish ware, you’ll want to use them every day. I’ll be honest, sometimes I just throw a bagel on one of our salad plates and jump in the car on my way to work. Feel free to shop from the tagged images, and if an item isn’t in stock we’ll get right to making it in our Petaluma studio and have it in your hands in just a few short weeks!

Tread Lightly | Forrest Lesch-Middelton and Beth Schaible
On view through August 29

Beth Schaible’s hand carved illustrations feature panoramas, flora, and weathered barns from her wanderings in the Blue Ridge Mountains and along the Northern California coast. Forrest Lesch-Middelton’s forms are adorned with ornamental motifs from the Seljuk empire, Ottoman ceramic designs, and in the case of Camino, the patchwork pattern of a black and white hide rug from Argentina. Camino’s name is the Spanish word for road, and is meant to evoke connection and hospitality as an antithesis to the current political administration’s penchant for border walls and division.

This is the final week to view Tread Lightly in person. To purchase or see more of Beth and Forrest’s work online, visit the link in our bio.
