Taking a quick break from raising kids and popping back on IG to let you know about a show you NEED to be at! One of my oldest buds in noise and huge supporter Chad Hickman (@sh_kingston) has booked BEING aka Luke Tandy (@skeleton_dust_records) one of the American harsh noise greats! I met Luke in the mid-00s during the early Lemp St. Louis’ Noise Fest days. Even back then, in the infancy of the project, he was performing excellent noise sets and putting out sick tapes. He even booked me and David Greteman in Muncie, Indiana in 2007 when we were doing Worm Hands. Luke’s presence, curation, and support in the American Underground has made him a consistent pillar in noise and his output both as an artist and label head has always been of the highest quality. In 2026, he celebrates 20 years of the project with a tour that will stop in St. Louis at @dissonantworks on Tuesday, June 30! The show will feature performances from Psychic Sense Organs (Brad Griggs of Heat Signature + Joe Wang of Outdoor Horse Shrine // currently on tour with Being), free improv shredder @alexcunningham.wav and the psycho-acoustics king himself Kingston Family Singers. Next up: 2024 ISSUE Project Room Artist-In-Residence and anno recording artist Axine M (NYC) will be hitting St. Louis for the very first time. Their frenetic and bombastic electronic works are genre-defying, effervescent, and buoyant. Never tethered to one mode, Axine M’s work is a true representation of aural freedom - breakneck bpms, warped beats flurry downward into a rapid-fire staccato leaving dancefloors and galleries alike - writhing, wanting more.  Chicago-based experimental composer Sarah Lutkenhaus’ dynamic work marries expansive textural forms against vocal interspersions. Her sonic lexicon creates a world where hiss and scree traverse across atmospheric spectral fields. Do. Not. Miss.
 St. Louis’ own Radiator Greys blends an amalgam of tape loops, no-input feedback, and corrosive synthesizer re-works to create immersive, introspective sonic landscapes. The Power of Negative Thinking.  Nadyr, a respected ambient musician in his own right and Co-founder of the Materia raves, hits the decks all night with a mix of dark alley dub and hypnotic bass music.

Gabe and Fitz are also appropriately cooking this collaboration of spacious electroacoustics that are guaranteed to be lovely and thought provoking as well as body sensational.

Huge gig with the return of CUBE goes down at the Kerr on Wednesday 7/30. In support of their new album “Lucky Numbers & True Weight,” Adam Keith aka Cube brings their signature propulsive blend of left field industrial and lofi jungle breaks to the mound city- this time with Knife Mall (Roxann Spikula of corrosive sister noise duo Relay For Death).
