One more rep!
"Did you come up with this just now, or did you have this sitting on a shelf and cleared the dust on it?"
A legitimate question, the kind that has ignited beautiful conversations over the years.

From the early to late 1990's, I had 35 video 8 cassettes; some 120 minutes, most of them 240 minutes; all containing personal roller skate training footage.
Today I have only 10 tapes left. Somewhere in that vault, there is a 1 minute and 20 second clip of this short riff executed, on the left & right side.

At the time, I had no idea I would use this move in an upgraded version 30 years later, to explain bodyweight shift followed by a beautiful conversation about balance in life, on & off wheels.

Reflecting on everything I’ve learned as the year draws to a close. This time of year always carries that quiet invitation to look back on growth, on far-reaching goals, on victories and those precious learning moments. There are moves I never thought I’d master yet—moves that have somehow found their way under my wheels.
This videolog is just a small glimpse of the endless learning cycle I’m part of, enriched by the occasional team-up, like this instance, that lifts it all higher. I want to pause and thank the EsQuint team for creating that eternally sunny place, and everyone who has so generously shared their skills and helped shape my progress on 8, 6, 4, and sometimes just 2 wheels at the Diep.
And last but not least—a special thank you to the ever-reliable floor that never fails to catch me, always ready with a warm hug and keeping that happy ‘B’ firmly in floWVanB. 👀🤗

Nu het jaar ten einde loopt en de dagen korter zijn, is dit een moment van bezinning. Ik sta stil bij alles wat ik heb mogen leren: mijn groei, de verre doelen, de overwinningen, en vooral die kostbare leermomenten. Er zijn bewegingen die ik nooit voor mogelijk hield, maar die nu toch levend worden onder mijn wielen.

Deze videolog toont slechts een kleine glimp van de eindeloze leercirkel waar ik deel van uitmaak. Wat deze cirkel verrijkt, is het incidentele samenspel, zoals juist in dit geval, dat alles naar een hoger niveau tilt. Ik wil dan ook even stilstaan om het EsQuint-team te bedanken voor het creëren van die eeuwig zonnige plek, én iedereen die zo gul zijn of haar kunsten heeft gedeeld en heeft bijgedragen aan mijn reis op acht, zes, vier en soms slechts twee wielen bij de Diep.

En *last but not least*: een bijzondere dank aan de altijd betrouwbare vloer. Die laat me nooit in de steek, is altijd klaar voor een warme omhelzing, en is meesterlijk in het bewaren van die vrolijke ‘B’ in floWVanB. 👀🤗

We named this one 'the Flow van B Flow' 🥰

@flow_vanb and I were trying some combo's and then came up with this little thing. On the first count you can also lift your leg and on 7 you can totally do a cross spin😉🥰 Robert was doing that. Not sure if you can tell. Wanted to show you the back so you can easily try for your self.

After not being at the Diep for a week, it feels like eternity. (quickie over the weekend excluded). Sweaty Bobbing, heavy legs and my yummy tummy was still relishing the pasta carbonara. (Why did I choose that frienemey before workout again?)
Sometimes it’s not always how you expect it to be, even though you’re hungry for it. Some quick shuffle combinations in freeflow was wreaking havoc on balance and coordination. Wobbly willy was back in town.
Pace through, move on, step it up. Keep pushing. Easy is boring and have a blast.

Quick-shuffle combo in the making
Double L&R (or R&L) followed by a shuffle on 6H followed by a shuffle 6T R&L (or R&L) to a shuffle LH ending the series in a shuffle R&L

What a difference time makes. Finding some “old” video notes recorded by the always smiling doc @murton_r3d. Amusing how sometimes one can be somewhat confused even if you know what’s coming next, the joyful when you get the move and rythm right. Grooveryder’s ‘lean-back’ sums it all up. Now about that timing🙃

Don’t you just love a little brain fog? Shits and giggles makes learning a blast.
