I’m going to try and keep this post short. After I completed the art for Africatown Plaza last year; I said I was going to take a step back from art to focus on myself and my transition into blindness. My eyesight is almost completely gone as you may know. I’m down to only shadows and light. It’s challenging to make the type of art that I make and not see the process; but here I am… I’ve just completed another piece for the Odessa Central clinic. Having mounted and poured a lot of art, I was able to go off of feell, but still needed a second set of eyes to make sure my measurements and pour was clear. It hurts not to be able to see the finished piece or film the videos like I used to , but I hope you can and here it is…#OutOfFokus

With everything that life has thrown at me in the last two weeks, I was able to show up to my graduation for the “Ignite“ business accelerator and “Sharks Pitch Competition“ put on by Urban Impact. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to show up, let alone pitch in the competition. But in the interim, I still pushed and worked extremely hard on my pitch. I wanted to see this thing through to its completion and not quit right before I cross the finish line… And I’m glad that I did! Nervous, stressed, tired, exhausted, anxious, and excited I took the stage, popped my pitch and gave it my best shot… And I WON 1st place! by @flyblindguy

I had the opportunity to collaborate with @_axsm on her Bryant Manor commission to design the stairs. She wanted me to do my thing on the first and last step… AND I put the hood in it; honoring some of the families that once lived in this complex! Here’s a glimpse from the studio table…
