The heat is on … 2026/27 hucho hucho season is here 🔥🔥🔥

This is just a little teaser. Our true start is in November, when we finally pull the curtain on the trout season. 😉😁

@juliensylvain just left after his second return to Slovenia this year, and we had a blast chasing trout, but we'll get into it another time. With him here, he reminded me how we ended the last days of the 2025/26 hucho hucho season. He definitely earned a feature on our wall, which he didn’t get, but he should have at the end of the season. 💪🤝

The 2026/27 season is mostly booked; I still have a couple of weeks left from mid-January to the end of the season (14th of February), plus a few short, day-or-two slots throughout December, January, and February.

The Varmá River in Iceland is home to both resident and migratory (sea-run) brown trout. It is a small volcanic river that stays warm throughout the season and makes for great streamer and nymph fishing. Located relatively close to the capital, Reykjavik, and the international airport, this little gem should be on your radar if you ever decide to fish Iceland.
