The last few days have been a lot of fun!

We had first black drum on the fly, first Texas redfish on the fly, running from storms, and lots of been rods. We are def in my favorite part of the year on the Texas Coast.

'I feel so happy on the water'
It's not in your head, you're not just having a good day... It's science.
Ocean environments increase serotonin and reduce cortisol, the "stress hormone". Immersion in seawater physically changes your brain, making you feel happier and more relaxed. Moral of the story? Get out, enjoy the water, the sun and see the happy battery fill. taken in Port Aransas, Texas by @flyfishtrey

I've always loved this lighthouse. Such a unique location, with a rich history.

The Aransas Pass Light Station, also known as the Lydia Ann Lighthouse, is located on the eastern edge of Harbor Island near Port Aransas, Texas. Built in 1857, it is the second-oldest lighthouse on the Texas Gulf Coast and the oldest surviving structure in the Corpus Christi/Port Aransas area. taken in Port Aransas, Texas by @flyfishtrey

Let's talk about the tide and fishing.
The tide difference, or tidal range, determines how much water gets moved on and off the flats. Stronger tidal flows dislodge baitfish and push them into predictable pathways, resulting in active "bites". The best fishing occurs during the 90-minute windows of moving water, rather than at peak high or low slack tides taken in Port Aransas, Texas by @flyfishtrey

Did you know?
Redfish Bay is a 14,000-acre marine sanctuary supporting thousands of varieties of sea life. Its extensive seagrass beds are home to over a hundred specific species of invertebrates and fish, and the wider ecosystem sustains nearly 400 species of coastal birds and marine mammals like bottlenose dolphins. taken in Redfish Bay by @flyfishtrey

Let me tell you about the waters I call home.

The very first people to utilize the waters of Aransas Pass were the Karankawa Indians, who fished using dugout canoes, bows, and arrows.
World-Class Angling: The city hugs the edge of Redfish Bay, a highly productive, shallow-water fishing destination known for its prized redfish and spotted seatrout. by @flyfishtrey
