JULY: lots of time spent in the air, laughing with friends, and learning a lot about our own kind 🌻

Despite the nasty wind, I was happy to be in Samoëns at the beginning of the month, sharing great moments with the CNF crew, flying my Zeolite, and testing the equalisers 🏋️

I then headed to the Vosges Massif for the Palz Open. I was tired and sick, but I still managed to find my flow while flying over those beautiful landscapes. Unfortunately, the pressure I put on myself during the last task got the better of me, and I missed the result I was hoping for. It was a huge disappointment ❤️‍🩹

The highlight of the week was definitely my brother Louis, who cycled all the way from Strasbourg just to cheer me on at takeoff 🚴

When my friend Lene 🇨🇱 told me she was in the French Alps, I happily went to Le Grand-Bornand to see her and unofficially flew the first task of the Ozone edition of the SRS 🚀

The conditions were booming and crossing the lake Annecy is always a feast for the eyes , but unfortunately I strained my ankle in the LZ 😬

I guess the universe decided it was time for a break, so now I’m stuck on my couch watching the PWCA live tracking 🤓

Of course I’m frustrated, and yes, I’m getting bored. But I’m also deeply grateful to be home, safe from the fires, supported by extraordinary friends and family. Not mentioning my lovely cat 🐱

A little update from the Matmute ✨

Yesterday was a big day: I got all my gear back (quite the mission 😅), and then Team France helped me check, repack, and set everything up again ❤️

Today, I headed to launch planning to fly and maybe even do the task. But the route passed twice near the area where I threw my reserve, and I could feel my emotions taking over instantly.

After the briefing, I talked with @max_pinot and then with @arnaud_secher about what I was feeling, what I wanted, and what I needed. The conclusion was simple: I wanted to fly again, but not being forced to follow the arrow. So I flew my own version of the task, cutting a few corners 😇

Best decision ever.

I loved the flight! Conditions were smoother than the previous days, I shared the sky with plenty of vultures, and basically became the competition’s flying observer🛰️, keeping an eye on the lead gaggle, different options, and the stragglers 😄

I’m still taking it easy when things get rough and barely touched the speed bar today, but overall I felt good. Most importantly, I listened to myself and flew in a way that felt right.

Je n’ai pas touché au matos depuis Pegalajar, je n’étais pas forcément en grande forme ces derniers jours et je me pose à nouveau beaucoup de questions sur cette activité qui nous apporte nos plus grande émotions, joies et peines 🤍🕊️

Mais le sac est prêt… Je suis en route, j’ai emporté mes chaussettes Raoul 😼 et l’envie de bien faire dans ma besace. ¡Venga!

Running low on energy this week, stuck on my couch missing those last days when I was hanging under the clouds with friends 🪂⛅️

Last Saturday, the stability met during our @cnf_parapente training was hard to fight and kept most of us from entering the Bauges Massif but I was lucky to share some lovely moments with @joanna.digrigoli ❤️ and @sanscouette68 💙

Hope to be back in the sky soon, enjoying some great conditions with my friends again. In the meantime, I’m following my girls through the Level Up livetracking -the comp organised by @chloedemailly 🫶🏻

Pre-PWC Pegalajar 🇪🇸

It took me some time to process this competition & write this post. I came to Andalucia shortly after the PWCA in Brazil, where I unlocked something in my flying. When I arrived in Pegalajar, I was worried I wouldn’t be able to reproduce the same level of performance and that maybe it had just been some kind of Brazilian magic 🇧🇷✨

The first task was an 85 km downwind race. I took a good start and chased the leaders all the way to goal, arriving only 1’57 behind the winner (P31 / 👧2 / 957.9). I was relieved to see there was no Brazilian “anomaly” and felt ready to race 🔥

Unfortunately, at the beginning of Task 2, the zip of my left reserve fully opened 😱 Even though I managed to keep the tail tucked under my right arm, it felt like I was flying with a dragchute and landed before B1 😫

Day 3 brought no task due to strong winds and incoming thunderstorms.

On Day 4, we had a beautiful 135 km task taking us to El Yelmo. After another good start, I was once again chasing the leading group. After the first turnpoint, I made a bold move and joined them from below. I managed to keep their rhythm, even if my position became more and more uncomfortable. I was lucky to connect with Drouin’s thermal and even took the lead for a short moment on the way to B2 🤩 I lacked a bit of lucidity toward the end of the task, but still made goal at +8’30 (P23 / 👧2 / 938.7).

Sadly, the last task was cancelled due to poor weather.

With only 3 tasks flown, there was no full discard. I finished P52 overall and 4th woman… again 🏅🍫 but still managed to come 3rd in the serial class.

I think this was the first time I suffered so much from the gap between my true performance and the final result, and it hurt a lot 😅

Even though results remain a by-product, I’m still waiting to see my progress materialize into a strong result in a high-level competition. 🧘‍♀️It wasn’t meant to happen in Pegalajar so let’s see what the future brings ✨

Merci @melissaleneve d’avoir cru en moi, bien avant que je n’en sois capable moi-même !
Il m’aura fallu trois étapes de PWC pour me sentir légitime… Pour la Matmute, le parapente est un sport à maturation lente 🙃

Est-ce à cause de mon genre ? de mon âge, de mon éducation, de ma maladie ? que le plafond de verre est aussi épais ? Peu importe, il s’est bel et bien fissuré à la @officialparaglidingworldcup de Governador Valadares 🇧🇷❤️‍🔥

Les highlights de cette compète ? Les rencontres (👋 @leonardojfs_ @muriloenobrega @isabelaglsales @arianapinheirocaldas @andres.tello.alvdo…), les paysages survolés, la Zeno team avec @mal0_richard & @lapame10, la victoire de manche avec 940 puntos et la coloc Maël le Ratel @moindrot_arthur @juliendusserre @justin_puthod & @tilo_drz 🦦

Following @elisa.deutschmann post about her must-have in XC competition, I feel like I should share mine too 😂

- @syride_flight_instruments SysNav XL, my trusty flight instrument since the 2021 @redbullxalps with @damien_lacaze ❤️‍🔥

- a nail-clippers. Mine had the privilege to cut the E3 rods from @jonathan.marin.fly @constance_mettetal @zinh_dinh & @max_pinot maybe an idea of goodies for @ozoneparagliders ?! 💅

- Diapers. Essential for long flights, they protect your Submarine during transport. Practical & clever 🤓

- Kibble measuring cup. Stolen from my cat, its diameter perfectly fits the Submarine nose 😹

- Food and especially M&M’s @mmsfrance
It’s very important to drink and eat during long flights ✈️
