We're very grateful and honored that we were invited to share on the 60th anniversary of the Black Panther party and their legacy in Oakland while also celebrating the phenomenal ancestor, master Bruce Lee and his work and influence in Oakland at this year's @lifeislivingfest festival !! 🌊⚔️🙌🏾👑🙏🏾

We were inspired by the stories and presence of Master Shannon Lee @therealshannonlee daughter of the legendary Bruce Lee and brother of the iconic Brandon Lee, renowned author Jeff Chang @zentronix , and martial arts elder and the member of the Black Panther party, Professor McCuthin @bppaln for sharing as panelists and speakers on the history of martial arts, resilience, and resistance in Oakland! And Master Bruce!

Thank you to the LIFE is LIVING festival @lifeislivingfest, to ALL the organizers and participants, as well as all of our students and instructors from VSCK Global and @trs.vsck for coming out to share with us.

We deeply appreciate sharing and teaching our late teacher, Maestro Umpad's art, @visayaneskrima and be solidarity and in struggle against establishments and social infrastructures that are unjust, and to represent our culture alongside other amazing artists, educators, activists, and community members of Oakland and the Bay Area! One of our instructors, Guro Jay Jasper Pugao @fmatrix01 will be teaching and sharing at the LIFE IS LIVING festival at Defremery Park celebrating the Legacy of the Black Panther party for Self Defence and ancestor, Master Bruce Lee’s Legacy here in Oakland.
@lifeislivingfest
@mrdavis510

From Dr. Hodari Davis: The full name ,“The Black Panther Party for Self Defense” is a reminder, an affirmation of the mission. This party had a purpose, to defend self, community
and each other, defend the people, from the forces aiming to diminish our lives, and our power.

These elders and ancestors were building machines to defend us, they believed
that “pending revolution” we needed to emphasize our survival. This included food programs, health clinics, mutual aide, a newspaper, a school, intergenerational activities and more.

At Life is Living, this year we are going to
highlight traditional self defense to bring awareness of the legacy of martial arts in Oakland, the incredible schools and teachers who offer classes around the Town.

We will feature Martial Arts exhibitions and workshops for attendees, especially young people, to gain some hands-on experience in various combat arts.

🪚🌳 building the fluidity and understanding tension versus relaxation so we switch to the padded sticks for safety. Wrist/ hand shots, elbows, and shoulder shots represents head shots then exit. Go slow then build up the speed once you have your accuracy down 🎯
