Welcome to Folio and Fauna! 📚🪴🐾

Let’s start with the name. Folio comes from the world of books, a nod to the stories that have always meant so much to me. Fauna represents the wider ecosystem, plants and animals alike, the parts of nature that ground me. Together, Folio and Fauna is a shop built around everything I love.

This shop was born out of necessity as much as passion. I live with debilitating pain from an injury, and creating this business became a way to find a creative outlet and support myself when so much else felt out of my control. Designing and printing has given me something to hold onto on the hardest days.

This is a queer owned business, and it’s a safe space that celebrates diversity and mental health openly.

Here’s some of what you’ll find in the shop:
📚 Book shelf decor, reading support items
🐾 Interactive pet toys made for enrichment
🪴 Fun and quirky plant pots to bring some personality to your garden

This is just a tiny sneak peak of some of the items you will find. Every piece is designed and 3D printed by me, with a lot of heart behind it.

Please give us a follow and thank you for being here from the very beginning of this journey! 🌿

Hello! My name is Shannon!🌿

Creativity has always been one of the most important tools I have for my mental health. On hard days, having something to design, build, or bring to life is what helps me feel like myself again. This shop is that outlet, turned into something I get to share with you.
I wanted Folio and Fauna to be more than a place to shop. I wanted it to be a safe space, one that’s queer owned, that celebrates diversity, and that treats mental health as something worth talking about openly instead of hiding away.

Three years ago my life was completely changed when I was attacked by a suicidal patient at the hospital I worked at as a travel nurse causing damage and compression of nerves in my left arm, shoulder, neck and left side of my face. It stripped away so much of what brought me joy. Backpacking, hiking, camping and just being outside in nature was ripped from me, leaving me pretty limited in the physical activities I can do. After multiple surgeries, I am still working towards a solution to the severe pain.

Not being able to have the career I want to support myself has left me with very few feasible options for employment. I want to be able to move on with my life if this is going to be my new normal, so with the love and support of my girlfriend Angie, Folio and Fauna was born.

If you also lean on creativity to get through tough seasons, whether that’s reading, gardening, caring for your pets, or making things with your hands, I see you and I’m glad you’re here.

This little corner of the internet is for anyone who needs a soft place to land and a reminder that joy and creativity can coexist with hard days. 💛

First release day coming soon!!

Fresh off the printer and I'm obsessed 🧚‍♀️✨

This fairy bookmark has leaves that glow when the light hits them, and her purple wings are my favorite detail. I'm experimenting with this one for a future release, so consider this your sneak peek. 😉

Me: creates a Pinterest board of dreamy, sunlit craft rooms with color coded bins and cute little shelves 🧵

Also me: record scratch it's giving "organized chaos" and Danny Lavito is out here yelling about trash in the background 😭

Folio and Fauna HQ is not the aesthetic craft room of my dreams... it's a beautiful disaster and I have been so productive the last few days!

Send help (and maybe a label maker) 🧵✂️

💭Tell me your craft space is just as chaotic 👇

Meet the guardian of the shelf 🐉📖

People think 3D printing is just hit print and walk away. That part is honestly the easiest part. Here's what actually goes into a piece like this:

- Hours of designing and building the model
- Sorting through a ton of settings to find what works best for this specific print, since it changes every time
- A trial print to see how it actually turns out
- Tweaking settings again based on what went wrong
- Print again, and hope it worked. If not, back to fixing settings

This dragon book nook took a few rounds to get right with printing settings, but that clean and detailed print was worth every failed attempt!

Tag a friend who needs this on their shelf immediately!
