I built a color generation tool yesterday for textiles, art, embroidery & illustration 💥. I wanted to be able to see a palette at work with instantly different variables and opportunities even when it’s all the same thread you can take it in many different directions. However it’s hard to know where to start or what your heart ❤️ responds to! This holds up to 8 colors, you can adjust the bars to reduce the % of color and much more. I designed it for desktop but it totally stands on mobile too. I called it Color Bestie, and will be an additional tool offered in our FREE Community Lounge section. You can take it for a spin directly at folklounge.com/color. Want to learn about color and more, unleash your creativity & authentic voice with Folk Lounge weekly classes in person at Frogtown Arts Gallery or join online! Our Open House event is this Wednesday 7:30-8pm, free with a required RSVP on Luma, come for bites & vibes! Bring a project to show or finish in good company. We will have starter supplies too. Want to learn more, join our Flora Challenge on iNaturalist App to snap plants, flowers, bushes & trees to learn more about color in nature & WIN How To Be A Wildflower book by Katie Daisy. 🌼 #embroidery #illustration #patterndesign #ornament #surfacedesign taken in Los Angeles, California by @folk.lounge

Heya! Today I was back @thehuntingtonlibrary to research ornament. I was from a couple of weeks since my last session, find more videos here @_shagho. Which meant it was going to be cleaning day where I synthesize Internet & AI research 🧐 to narrow down books I am requesting. After 1.5h of investment I got to some really great gems. A book on lace from France, a book of fabric swatches, ornament swatches & silk swatches as well as ribbon. Thanks to my friend Kathleen for sharing the reference of the Clark Archives. I have been searching for pattern books for a year and have finally found them! 🧚‍♀️ #archive #arthistory #gettyinspired #hungtingtonlibrary #textilehistory taken in The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens by @folk.lounge

Thank you so much for your support and being a part of our journey. Founded in 2024, Folk Lounge embarked to expand & connect the creative community. We are extremely grateful for all our creatives, artisans, clients, partners & mentors. It means the world to be part of this beautiful moment, to receive and to give knowledge, to behold lineages of stories, symbolism, patterns & mythologies. This year I was very excited to launch our website so it’s easy to find events, essays & documentation of all the programs. I did a lot of work on curriculum creation, it was a ton of work but equally rich & stimulating. There is so much more I can’t wait to share. I keep being blown away by all the creativity in this city and beyond, there is so much we already have to share with each other. In Armenian 🇦🇲 tradition when we start a toast we move through a timeline. We turn backwards to say thank you to our ancestors and our parents for all the did to shape us and get us to experience the goodness of the worlds! We say thank you to now, all the people here with us and to the feeling of togetherness we create. Last we turn to our kids and the future to wish them prosperity and good fortune for years to come! Thus, thank you for this year and the experiences gained. I am excited to be planning the program for 2026 and look forward to seeing you all soon in nature, in community and while being with our body and experiencing the brilliance of our hands!

If you want to chat and have some ideas for collaboration, don’t hesitate to send me a message. Let’s grab a coffee and explore what would be fun! Photos by @lindseykusterman. … #frogtown #highlandpark #eaglerock #pasadena #altwatervillage

First time cochineal harvesting for pink dye, I am so excited! I have been looking 👀 for two years! Honesty I don’t think I understood the seasons & when they are ready. I found a large cactus 🌵 near my home simply doing daily walks, building my eye 🧿 for all the plants on my path & really being present. There is a super cute short video by PBS on these little gals & guys, look it up! Their antennas 📡 are so 🥲 CUTE! taken in Los Angeles, California by @folk.lounge
