The Food Design Alternative Master 2026–2027

OFFICIAL RELEASE

A deep, multidisciplinary exploration of Food Design where creativity, critical thinking, and entrepreneurship come together to shape meaningful eating experiences.

Designed for professionals and researchers working across design, food, and culture, this one-year program invites participants to expand their practice while contributing to the future of food systems.

Co-crafted by @fondoschool and @dr_francesca_zampollo.

Across the academic year, participants will explore different dimensions of Food Design: from crafting memorable experiences, to developing speculative and critical approaches, to building sustainable and purpose-driven businesses.

As the program continues to grow, this new edition also introduces expanded pathways, new learning formats, and for the first time, global in-person residencies designed to bring the community into physical spaces through workshops, field trips, and immersive local experiences in different parts of the world.

An alternative educational framework for those seeking to rethink the role of food within contemporary culture.

The Food Design Alternative Master 2026–2027

An alternative, multidisciplinary master’s program where creativity, critical thinking, and entrepreneurship come together to shape meaningful edible experiences.

Co-crafted by Fondo School @fondoschool and Francesca Zampollo @dr_francesca_zampollo, the program is shaped by an international network of leading food designers, studios, researchers, and creative practitioners actively redefining conversations around food, culture, design, and contemporary systems through live sessions, weekly Q&As, tutorials, and optional residencies worldwide.

In just a few days, The Prototyper’s residency journey begins in Seoul.

From October 15–22, we’ll step into Seoul’s food and design landscape during Seoul Design Week, guided by this year’s theme, “The Design Recipe”, while collaborating with and learning from an inspiring mix of food creatives, art directors, creative labs, culinary practitioners, foundations and more through workshops, lectures and encounters, such as:

The first destination on The Prototyper’s residency journey is coming soon ✈️

From October 15–22, we’re heading to Seoul, South Korea, during Seoul Design Week, this year under the theme “The Design Recipe” exploring design as a recipe that blends local creativity, emerging talent and new ways of living.

This year, for the first time, some of the students in our Food Design Master will be able to travel to Korea, Netherlands and Spain for the residences program.

Application to be a part of the hybrid online / in person program is open until the end of the month!
