Welcome to the Foolies. This brand started in college (circa 2009). A way to make dope apparel for my homies who were battling with wanting to chase careers and dreams that seemed rather foolish. Imma keep it a stack. I was one of them. Back then I was pursuing rap. They called me “foolish” then. But here’s what happened. I evolved. Into a better leader. A better designer. A better founder. The dream changed shape, but the chase never stopped. And Foolies evolved with me. What started as t-shirts for dreamers has grown into something bigger. Last week you saw that the brand held a virtual conference called the Black Girl Relief Fund, pouring into Black women who are building, creating, and chasing their own foolish dreams. That’s the thing about being part of the Foolies. The goal might shift. The craft might change. But the commitment to keep going? That stays. So whether you rocked with us in the early days, just found us yesterday, or somewhere in between… thank you. For every like, every share, every time you threw on a piece and kept it moving. We’ve transformed. You’ve transformed. And we’re still here. Together. Foolies are folk who are so passionate about living out their goals and dreams that they get called “foolish” for doing so. Day 21/30 (Pt 2): If @luvvie ever gives you advice you better just put it into good practice IMMEDIATELY! I’ve been telling yall start ugly! Not because it sounds cool but because I’m living it. I scrolled through my memories today and saw that today was the anniversary of this drop!! I ain’t gonna hold you I said something feels really amazing about this day. Didn’t know what it was. But I felt it. This wasn’t even supposed to be a t-shirt. I just wanted to honor @iamreginaking and @violadavis and all the other dope Black women in the Hollywood space that don’t always get the attention they deserve. My intentions were pure. So it didn’t matter if this was my most well designed product or not. Still to this day one of our most impactful items. Imma wrap this one up but this moment changed my life and ultimately my entire career. Since this day Black women have been part of every single reason I’ve elevated in my personal life and career. I kid you not. If you knew everything that happened post this event it would absolutely blow your mind. So an additional thank you to @essence and @owntv for this moment. Truly something amazing!! But yeah, just know! Someone’s watching. Don’t get caught up in numbers and views. Someone sees what you’re doing and they are waiting for the opportunity to shake your whole life up! Just want to shake up couple more lives! Why? Well, I don’t want my homies to leave this earth with their blueprints inside of them! I don’t want my homies to have fear trapping them and they don’t go after that thing that bubbles up in their soul! I don’t want my homies letting imposter syndrome take hold of them! Soooo, tell me why…A few days into mass layoffs from my previous job I had asked God…I wanna work on something for US! For the culture. I mean, I was still on a high from the Black Girl Relief Fund anyways so I mean why not!?! For those who don’t know outside of @foolies and pushing and motivating YOU to bring your goals and dreams to life no matter how “foolish” it seems, I’ve learned to help foster the dreams of others as well! Cause while it’s dope to be a founder and a leader, I’ve learned that being someone who can be a strong second support, a strong behind the scenes innovator, someone who is also championing another’s dreams is JUST as important! And maybe even more significant. So when I got the call from my brother, “hey man, saw you were back in the market I gotta project for you if you’re interested….” and he connected me with @witherspoonc it was a smooth wrap! Now I can add to my title, lead designer for the inaugural @viewercon_! This project was so fulfilling to be able to work on. To see the culture. To see an event for the fans. To see my people walking all throughout @njpac taking pictures with the signage, walking around with their badges, seeing all the different screens with ViewerCon all over it was just such a dream come true. I fell into design on purpose. I always wanted to make things. And create things. And just dream and endlessly dream. And here I am. Mama, I hope you’re proud of me. God, thank you for answering another prayer as well! Got a whole new set of brothers and sisters now and happy that this kid from the 3-0-5 is helping to charter new territory over in Hollywood East! If you were there…it was truly an amazing time. If you were not just know that you better be in place come next year because the vision is only going to get bigger and better! Buhlee Dat! Another year around the sun! Blessed and so excited to see what this year of 39 looks like! To all the homies going after their goals and dreams and have allowed me to push them, motivate them, pray for them and all the things, I thank you! In moments where I wanted to quit so many pushed me and inspired me as well. So as I walk into 39 I am that much grateful and I have to remind myself a few things: 1) Make sure that no one leaves this earth with their Blueprints still inside of them. That means I need to be going after my own dreams as well. 2) The imposters never have the syndrome. You were built for this. In moments where you shrink. Or you doubt yourself. Just remember this quote. It’s helped me this last year in an incredible way and I wanted to make sure I remind you as well! You were never the imposter. Keep getting after that! The reason I’m a fighter. The reason why I love God so much. I see his light in her eyes and her smile. The reason why I’m going to stop and pray for you. The reason why I’m going to check in on you and see how you doing. She is the reason for anything you see and have experienced with me. I hope mostly the good stuff! Anything else that’s on me 🤣🤣🤣 not her. I’m still a work in progress. But keep going. If you’re a mom and you follow me, keep going. If you’re a care taker or that ride or die auntie…keep going. There’s lessons I learned from 20 years ago that still are with me today! Happy Mother’s Day and that includes anyone stepping up and in the role holding the fort down!! Be good yall! We're committed to supporting black-owned small businesses at each of our conferences. A recommendation from @fxravin led us to @sabrinaseymore of @sabrinaseymoreevents, who has been our go-to event planner in Raleigh since year one. We've also partnered with @foolies to create some incredible merchandise, including T-shirts, affirmation books, pins, and stickers. The demand for the "Hire Black People" shirt is still high - perhaps a "Hire Black Women" version is in order for this year. Perfection? Throw it away 🗑️ It’s only helpful until it isn’t and that same thing that made you so great now hurts you. Holds you back. Causes you to watch another course. Read another book. 📚 Pump the breaks homies. You don’t need to be “perfect” and you don’t need to be fully “ready.” You can release something and update it in the wild just like our smart phones and other products similar. Let it go.
