This is not a club night, nor a gallery show.
It’s something in between

Here's our new collaborator member! Derek Okekeani - @foolishdex, he is a Helsinki-based media artist and designer, weaving metaphysics, ancestral cosmology, and dreams into a single practice. Merging ancestral imagination with futurist technologies, he creates experiences using sound, image, and space to alter human awareness. Through digital alchemy, he transmutes multimedia, building conceptual realities from its remains.

As co-founder of the creative collective BaBa and the DJ collective NOSLEEP, his work moves between live AV performance, radio, and worldbuilding, most recently through NOSLEEP's audiovisual radio show on YouTube and club concepts.

He is currently developing a new concept of multimedia installation called (A)topy, structured around lounge/gallery setting, exploring the idea of space, time and glitch, through the lens of “Nu Fantasy”, his framework for magic in modern and future worlds.

This piece was inspired by the current conflicts of the world. So please take ur time to read this!!

The area now known as Nigeria was called The Slave Coast until 1870s. Then it got named “The Royal Niger Company”
Yes Nigeria was AND STILL IS a business endeavour of the western world.

The Igbo people of Southern Nigeria formed their own nation in the hopes of owning their resources, controlling their own economy, practicing their own traditions and spiritual systems.

How ever a war broke out…
Nigeria was supported by the west while Biafrans built war machines and helicopters from scraps.

Biafra lost. It ended up being one of the biggest genocides ever. Civilians mostly targeted….

Anyway Im sharing this story because the same core issue of cultural, economical, spiritual and mental slavery and exploitation can be seen all over the globe.

I’m not going to partake in any social media protest to “raise awareness”,
I want a riot!

We don’t need another symbolic victory, we need ownership.
