Integrity, Honesty, Adaptability, Reliability, LOVE♥️♥️♥️.....

These are not just words in our house. I teach and lead through actions. We talk about their importance and meaning daily. In order for the next generation to properly grow, we must teach through consistent, conscious actions. With consistent effort, these words can become more than just words, they can become the bedrock of our personal ethos. At the end of a day, week, month, lifetime; your ethos is all that you have; the one thing that you can truly hang your hat on...

Through this lense we must also embrace change; for change is the only consistent variable that this world provides outside of our personal ethos.

I've come to realize that change is why I love farming the soil so much. It is a test, the greatest test and challenge offered by the lord above (Universe). We love it 💓 embrace the opportunity to grow 🌱 to be molded⚘️ to become a better self....

You can’t celebrate local farmers while demonizing the cities that help sustain many of their businesses.

USDA data shows that farms selling directly to consumers located in more urban and metropolitan areas account for nearly 90% of all U.S. direct-to-consumer farm sales!

The sad truth:
The USDA estimates that direct-to-consumer farm sales make under 1% of total U.S. food sales.

Research also shows that rural and suburbans residents rely more heavily on large grocery retailers because they have fewer grocery options,
While many urban communities have additional access to farmers’ markets, CSAs (community supported agriculture), and other local food programs.

As more people aim to shop less at large retail grocery stores, urban consumers seem to be leading that initiative.

Just in Seattle alone…
thousands of people shop at neighborhood farmers markets, join CSA programs, and support orgs like Washington growers.

I hope this serves as a reminder that cities aren’t separate from agriculture… they’re an important part of helping it thrive, and one of its biggest customer bases.

Happy New Year to you and your family. We have lots of delicious veggies coming out of our fields that we hope can find your table. It may be dark and blustery, be rest assured, winter succession plants are growing, baby plants are popping out, and we are finalizing plans for a wonderful 2026 and beyond.

For those that have been inquiring, yes, we will have food for you every week. You can find us weekly throughout the greater Puget Sound at farmers markets, our CSA, local grocers and of course online..

Happy Winter Solstice....

We hope that you are able to enjoy the holiday season with family and friends. It is a great time to reflect on the year that was, build a plan and create the new year that we desire..

Spring may feel so far away during the darkness of December, but we can assure you that those first delicious strawberries 🍓 are closer than you think.

The Skagit crested Thursday morning in Concrete 6 feet lower than predictions from Wednesday night. It was a very welcomed present to wake up to.

We are fine here. Family, employees, animals and the farm are all ok. The rains turned on Wednesday night, just barely sparing us.

It was probably the highest we have ever seen the water here in the 85 years our family has stewarded this land. This will be remembered as a historical flood ,not necessarily because of the height of the water here, but more for the potential that mother nature showed us combined with the outpouring of love and support that the people of the #magicskagit showed each other.
