𝐓𝐢𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝘗𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘥

𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 Hit accelerate and now you’re here. In the present. Ever moving forward. But the past tempts. It informs. It creeps into the day to day. How healthy is it to hold on to? Can we softly hold it in tandem with our futures? Or will the overwhelming urge for nostalgia wash us into hurt creatures of complacency.

In the late haze of the summer of 2023, Evelyn Morrison and I sat in and danced with our past selves. Two twenty-somethings classically confused and unclear of where to go. And so, when you can’t see the road ahead, how easy it is to tread back into known territories. In this short dance film “𝘗𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘥”, beautifully shot, edited and scored by the kind and crafty Chris Schmucki, we ruminate in and on memory. Hands outstretched for answers. Eyes longing and lingering. Bodies on bodies wishing. Smiles we can’t quite hold onto. There’s joy in becoming and a grief in our loss of naivete. In the search for ourselves, we don’t want it all to have just passed.

i made a promise to myself i’d write a haiku every day in 2025 greatly inspired by my dear friends of my youth margo (@fiber_cycles) and molly (@that_dumbass_seagull)

did i stick to said promise? no. but, i did always go back to it! it was a rly sweet exercise in journaling//marrying feeling to memory
