I’ve been working my little booty off all week on this incredibly powerful performance project, “Blank Placard Dance Replay” which has ONE (FREE!) SHOW ONLY today, 9/13, 11:30** (weather delay!), in center city Philadelphia as part of the Philly Fringe curated festival lineup.

YES. WE WILL PLAY IN THE RAIN.

TWO live bands are joining us—Philadelphia Freedom Band for the first part of our route and West Philly Orchestra at the end!!!!!!!

For live updates along our route, which wends through the city starting from 320 South Broad and ending at the Race St Pier, follow along at @fringearts (you’ll also get these live updates via email if you registered for the show by last night).

Special shout out to FringeArts staff (pictured in slide 7) who are rockstars and have been so instrumental in pulling this off. And also to the orange peels and other found objects (last slide) that helped us map the tight crossings in front of the Chinatown arch. 🤣

I love my job!!!!!!

Extra special shout outs to FA staff Mikaela Boone and Maddeye Perry, and Grace Lazarz our INCREDIBLE production manager. Also shouting out all the musicians and dancers who I was unable to tag—IG only allows me to tag 20 people and there are over 40 brilliant artists on this production!! GO TEAM!!

Cuing that Kurt Vile song where he sings about the Schuylkill. Thank you Philly and all the people who have made these past 4 and a half years so magical. This city will always have a part of my heart and so will you. Siked to be going to word school (UBC) on the west coast and siked to be closer to all my Seattle loved ones, but damn Philadelphia, you've been good to me.

I usually do a year end reflection post but I think this year I just want to focus on something I have been thinking about a lot the last few weeks which is summed up in a text I sent to Suji the other day "Out of a real shit year one of the things that has been a blessing is realizing I am surrounded by genuinely great friends"

I am so, so lucky I get to spend this life with people I adore who remind me in large and small ways every day what real care looks like. Thank you and I love you and I hope I get to keep living alongside you all for a very long time.

Anyway, here are some photos I got developed this week from the last 2.5 years, @milesbratter it wont let me tag you

Yeahhh we got engaged !!! 🐴💍👴🏼

Please forgive the third person but to tell you the story: Alex proposed on Halloween night at our favorite restaurant with the best Italian food in the city, Murph’s. He was in his Vito Corleone Godfather costume with penciled-in wrinkles and gray hairspray, and Sara Mae was in half of their horse head in the bed costume with fake blood all over their face. Sara Mae spent the entire meal (sweetly) giving Alex a hard time for not proposing on what had been a perfect day. (Alex was just waiting for the waiter to bring the ring out with dessert). He also surprised Sara Mae with a Halloween engagement party with friends and family back at the apartment afterwards :)

We got legally married over the summer because of our job situations, and we made it special and small, but it was still important to us to get to have the romance and spaciousness. We’re just really excited to enjoy this part and to plan something bigger with our people!!

New song from deluxe album Even More Meat premiering with @undertheradarmag today and out on all platforms tomorrow ! This one is “Nightshade” 🍅🐺🍑✨ HUGE thanks to @caleb_campbell_97 for the write-up!!

I wrote this during my move from Tennessee to Philly. I was gutted to be losing my music community and I felt lonely in a new place. We had just finished recording the album and going on tour, and I needed to write something to know that I could do it. It feels like the bridge to the next LP, or maybe the last creative breath of this first record. It is a remnant of that period of my writing life. I’m not hurting in the same ways I was, and a couple years later I feel extraordinarily lucky for how both cities have shaped my creative internal world. I hope you like it! It’s a touch country I think :) Daniel and I were very excited about the Big Thief drums and Max killed it!!! Link in stories to listen~
