🤩 We are going to be on NETFLIX 🤩

Have you seen the trailer for "This Is a Gardening Show" on Netflix? 🌿
If you spotted two familiar faces foraging in the forest... yes, that's us. That's really us (pinch me!).

Almost 4 years ago, a filming crew showed up on Vancouver Island and spent a day with us (Celia and Ben if you don't know our names already!).
We foraged, we laughed (of course), and we talked about plants, mushrooms, berries, and why wild food matters.

The show drops on Earth Day — April 22nd — on Netflix. Six episodes, hosted by the wonderful Zach Galifianakis, all about growing and foraging food and the people passionate about it.

We are so proud and so grateful to see Vancouver Island showcased in such a major show.
More to come very soon! 😘

As the Harvest Moon rises, remember food is more than what arrives on a plate.

It’s the forest floor beneath our feet.
The berries ripening in the fading light.
The mushrooms emerging from the cool earth.
The herbs, roots, flowers, and seeds gathered with care.

The harvest moon marks a turning point in the seasons and is moment to pause, gather, preserve, and give thanks for what the land has offered.

Wild food connects us to place in a deeply tangible way. It asks us to slow down, pay attention, and remember that we are part of an ecosystem.

Happy birthday to the love of my life and the reason why this company exists 💚

Without Ben, we would not eat so much beautiful food gathered from the forest.
Without Ben, we would not have learned to care so deeply about our immediate surroundings: plants, leaves, trees, mushrooms, flowers… all those thousands of living organisms that spark instant curiosity in his eyes.
Without Ben, we would not reinvent the world every time we see something that doesn’t quite work around us.

Ben’s endless curiosity, generosity, and love for the wilderness are what drive this company. He is its heart and brain, and we are all so lucky to have him sharing his passion and knowledge with the world. I feel extra lucky to have him by my side (and that tells you how much patience he has, too 😉).

Happy birthday, Ben! 🌲🍄💚 by @forestfordinner

When social media takes us away from what really matters...🍂

September is already at our doorstep...and for many, it means back to work and/or back to school. It also marks a gentle shift in the season. Days are changing, fall is quietly arriving, bringing a new rhythm.

I know we've been almost completely absent from social media these past couple of months. As much as I feel I should apologize for it, this time away brought an important realization: we don't need social media to live our mission...

Forest for Dinner is about harvesting, transforming and sharing the wild foods of our region. Above all, it's about education, helping people reconnect with the natural world that nourishes us. Food is one of our most essential needs, and that purpose remains at our centre.

So, just because you haven't seen us online doesn't mean nothing's happening. This summer was actually one of our busiest. We welcomed new employees for the first time after years of Ben and I stretching ourselves thin, often beyond our limits. We realized that pace wasn't sustainable, not for us, not for our mission. We had to make changes so Forest for Dinner could keep growing in a healthy way.

Nature doesn't wait for us. When the harvest is ready, we have to show up.

But above all, family comes first. In the photo here, I'm reading by a lake while camping with our kids and friends. Those moments are priceless. Slowing down isn't a luxury. It's a necessity. Creating memories with the people we love matters just as much as the work. That will always be my priority. Social media will follow.

Thankfully, with a wonderful full-time communications team member on board now, we'll be able to share more behind the scenes and continue our educational mission without sacrificing balance.

We've also got some exciting projects in the works, but I'll keep that for another day.

If you've made it this far, thank you. We're often told everything should fit into two short lines, but I've never been very good at that.

Thanks for being here no matter how much we show-up on social media...

With wild love,

Turn a simple weeknight meal into an extraordinary woodland feast.

Steam your broccoli, drizzle with good olive oil, and add a generous pinch of smoky Applewood Sea Salt. Fold it all into warm rice fresh off the stove with wild marinated matsutake mushrooms.

Smoky, rich, and deeply savoury. It is pure West Coast comfort in every single bite. 🌲

Upgrade your pantry or send a taste of Vancouver Island to someone special with The Wild Woods Duo featuring @saltwest Applewood Sea Salt and @forestfordinner Marinated Matsutake Mushrooms. 🎁🇨🇦

Working with Célia Auclair on the launch of this beautiful new packaging for @forestfordinner Wild Foraged Herbal Tea was inspiring in every way.

The goal was to create a visual language that not only felt cohesive within the Forest for Dinner product collection but also captured the essence of the West Coast landscape that inspires the brand.

My creative approach centered around the delicate, carefully selected ingredients found in each blend. The watercolor wave motif symbolizes the harmony between nature and the thoughtfully foraged botanicals that make these products so unique. It reflects both the movement of the ocean and the artistry behind every handcrafted blend.

If you haven’t discovered Forest for Dinner yet, you’re in for a treat. Explore their incredible line of products and immersive foraging experiences at forestfordinner.ca, or better yet, book a foraging tour with @forestfordinner.

And if you haven’t heard, Forest for Dinner is featured in the Netflix series @thisisagardeningshow Hosted by Zach Galifianakis, the six-part documentary explores horticulture, foraging, and food production. Founders Benjamin Patarin and Célia Auclair appear in Episode 3, “Foraging”—a fascinating and inspiring watch for anyone who loves food, nature, and the stories behind them.

Congratulations to the Forest for Dinner team on this exciting next chapter!

There is so much that goes into food processing behind the scenes... ✨

In our case, the process is even longer than most, because contrary to most food processors, we are also our own supplier. What does that mean exactly?

It starts in the forest. 🌿 We work with independent harvesters or go out and harvest the wild food ourselves. Once we receive it, every single batch is sorted by hand to ensure the quality meets our very high standards. This step is crucial and unique to each wild ingredient we work with. It can be incredibly time consuming, but it is non-negotiable for us.

Then comes the processing itself. Following strict recipes developed in house with a whole lot of love, each product carries what we like to call our Forest For Dinner signature. 💚

The final steps include conditioning each product and applying our beautifully designed labels... one by one, by hand. Yes, by hand! When we say we are a small artisanal processor, this is exactly what we mean. 🏷️

And then, finally, our wild food delicacies make their way to our retail partners or our online shop, ready for your table. 🍽️

Now you know the real story behind those beautiful jars you get to eat... 🌲 by @forestfordinner
