Through a tapestry of compelling stories from independent small-scale farmers across the United States, from Alaskan kelp harvesters to dairy farmers in Kentucky, the film reveals the authentic, lived realities and unprecedented challenges of those working against the tide of escalating industrialization in agriculture. 👩‍🍳🍓Featuring appearances by @nickofferman - Mary Berry @theberrycenter - @clarkbar - @chefmarcmurphy - Bren Smith @greenwaveorg - @karwasher - @ayanaeliza and others, Fork in the Road expands the conversation beyond the farm, demonstrating how food sustainability is a shared responsibility that extends into our kitchens and communities.

🎬👩🏻‍🌾 We’re excited to be heading back to @biffma for a special repeat screening of Fork In The Road this Sunday, October 4th @ 3pm, @thetriplexgb!!

Following a sold-out screening in May, Fork will kick off BIFF’s Environmental Film Focus Series, sponsored by The Roaring Brook Family Foundation.

After the screening, we’ll have a Q&A with Executive Producer @lisaholmesct, along with Rebecca Busansky & Ben Crockett from @berkshireagventures, along with Elizabeth Keen of @indian.line.farm, & moderator Lillian Lenox.

Mike Garcia is the owner and operator of Everoak Farm, a diversified regenerative farm in Central Florida. A culinary graduate turned first-generation farmer, Mike combines his background in food and hospitality with a passion for agroecology, regenerative agriculture, and community education.

Founded in 2019, Everoak Farm produces seasonal vegetables, herbs, fruit, and forest-raised poultry using practices that work with natural ecological processes. Beyond food production, the farm serves as a space for education and community engagement through workshops, farm tours, apprenticeships, and local partnerships. We’ll have a Q&A following the screening with filmmakers @jonnastasi, @vivstirnyc & @lisaholmesct, along with @jhabanahaf of @aftnewengland & Emily Sherwood of Steppingstone Commons, a whole-diet community farm in Alstead, New Hampshire(ticket link in bio).

We’re proud to announce that Fork has won the Jonathan Daniels Award!! The award honors Jonathan Daniels, a Keene, New Hampshire native and seminarian civil rights activist who was killed in Alabama in 1965 while shielding a teenage Black girl during voter registration efforts. It’s given to films that shine a light on social responsibility and selfless acts, mirroring Daniels’ courage. Thank you so much Monadnock International Film Festival for the award, we can’t wait to show our film there!!

Suzie Flores is a former market development executive turned kelp farmer. She and her husband Jay run one of the largest commercial seaweed farms in the state of CT selling food grade sugar kelp to local restaurants and shops. When not farming, Suzie engages in outreach education around the sustainability of seaweed farming and works to support the development of an emerging blue economy in the north east.
