🎬 SANTA FE RECAP
⠀
My first @santafeintlfilmfest — and it definitely did not disappoint! 💙
⠀
I only had two nights before heading on to Newport Beach, but what a great visit with @forkintheroaddoc.
⠀
A sold-out screening with Vivian Sorenson (@vivstirnyc) + @lisaholmesct, followed by a fantastic Q&A moderated by Jeffrey Crowley (@jaffyjaff) with special guests @pontiggiacristian + Xochitl Torres Small (@xochitlliana).
⠀
Vivian also joined the festival’s Stranger Than Fiction panel; I caught a great conversation on distribution, and we even squeezed in a little celebrating afterward at the Inn of the Anasazi. 🥂
⠀
Many thanks to @jacquespaisner, Stephanie Love-Riner (@freerange_steph), Liesette Bailey, Jena Braziel (@jenab2) + the entire SFiFF team for such a warm welcome!
⠀
Two nights went by much too quickly. ✨

🎬🍽️ Calling all foodies and film lovers! We are thrilled to present the Newport Beach Film Festival CULINARY FILM SERIES.

🍾🍇 Immerse yourself in the art of food and wine on the big screen.

Get ready for an international journey through the lens of gastronomy, featuring brilliant stories about world-class chefs, iconic restaurants, the art of winemaking, the culinary arts, farming and the food system.

🇪🇸 Noor: Eating History (North American Premiere)
Take a journey into the creative universe of the restaurant Noor, where Paco Morales and Paola Gualandi reinterpret the legacy of Al-Andalus through haute cuisine. A sensorial and cultural journey that moves between cities, artisans, and memories, revealing the intimate philosophy behind a project that transcends gastronomy.

🍣 California Roll Documentary
This documentary explores the trajectory of sushi in the United States, from its introduction by immigrants in the Post-WWII era in Los Angeles's Little Tokyo, to the shift to rolls to win over Western palates, through to its current status as one of the world’s most popular cuisines.
The film tracks an "ignition point" for the explosive popularity of the cuisine to a single restaurant: California Beach Rock N Sushi in Newport Beach, California.

🍷Burgundy
A story of Burgundy’s most extraordinary characters and a celebration of the pleasure that defines their lives.

🌽 Fork in the Road
This documentary that explores the profound connections between people, the land, and the future of our food system told through a tapestry of compelling stories from independent small-scale farmers across the United States.

🔪 How to Feed a Dictator
Inside the kitchens of history’s most feared regimes, meals are prepared for many reasons — survival, fear, ambition – and every one of them is a compromise.

🍊 The Art of Sharing (short film)
Michelin-starred chef and refugee artist Minh H Phan explores the connection between food waste and hunger through an immersive installation and culinary experience. Her residency with the hunger relief nonprofit Food Forward uncovers a broader story of how abundance can be reclaimed and shared.
